Grey accepts tender Grey Twp. council held its regular meeting on April 17 and accepted the tender of Da-Lee Dust Control for calcium chloride at $222 per ton plus taxes. The Da-Lee tender was the lowest of two tenders submitted and the township will spend $84,000 on calcium chloride in 2000. Council endorsed the resolution from the municipality of Chatham- Kent petitioning the province to maintain the existing drainage grants under the municipal outlet drainage grant program. Chatham-Kent's position was very similar to the posi­ tion paper submitted by council to the Minister of Agriculture. Food and Rural Affairs during the recent review of drainage programs. Also, a resolution from the Municipality of Centre Hastings petitioning the province to require the Ministry of the Environment to consult with local municipalities and conserva­ tion authorities before the issuance of water taking permits, was endorsed. Council agreed to renew the agree­ ment with Wheels Away to provide transportation services to qualified individuals at 30 cents per capita and $3 per ride. The agreement was renewed until the end of the term of the present council. The next regular meeting of coun­ cil is scheduled for May 1 at 7 p.m. Duizer gets committee seats Hullett Twp.'s newest councillor was appointed to two committees at the April 18 meeting. Councillor Tom Duizer was appointed to the Huron County Farm Safety Association and the Blyth Union Cemetery board. Bylaws were passed to allow the appointments to the Auburn Memorial Community Hall board and to authorize an agreement with Union Gas. Approval was given for the Clinton Fire Area board budget with expenditures of $131,000. Clerk-Treasurer Rhonda Fischer was authorized to proceed with road closing procedures for the road allowance at Sideroad 20/21, Cone. 7, for approximately 285 feet.
