A Note from Betty
Well Happy Easter to you and yours. I hope you had loved ones about as
you celebrated this blessed season of our year. Lots of visitors were out and
about enjoying the friendships of days past and catching up on family news.
Enjoy the memories as the house returns to saner times.
The Ministerial Association of Brussels, that’s the minister from each of
our churches, co-ordinated Lenten services again this year. The three
services were held in the United Church (so the main street crew could come
and go in less than their lunch hour) with each church contributing music,
worship and food. Each day worked out very well with an average
attendance of 35. Not bad for a Tuesday noon. Thanks to the Ministerial.
Hope you do it again.
The arena was a busy spot on Saturday as folk gathered for the sale of
Wilma and Doug Hemingway’s treasures. Auction sales are an emotional
time. For family it’s the last good bye, for friends it’s a time of memories,
remembering the stories that go with the special name, time to know that
another phase of your life is past.
Keep an eye on the bulletin boards and classified for all the upcoming
events. There is lots of neat stuff to do in our area. Don’t miss the fun.
Did you get your income tax finished up yet? May I is coming quick.
Enjoy the last days of April.
Bye now,
Betty G.

Happy Easter to everyone!
Things have been a little busy and I
hope you missed our column last
week.
Of course, the Branch is always
busy. President Linda Bird and
executive member Norm Dobson
attended the Spring convention in
Stratford.
There was a fantastic turnout for
the Sunday morning breakfast and
the pancakes were delicious.
It seems everyone wanted to
dance on Sunday at the singles
dance as well and a great crowd
enjoyed The Country Trubadours.
It’s also spring cleaning time -
but only a few showed up to help
on Saturday so we may call on a
few more people to finish up.
Don’t forget you can still order
tulips and order forms are at The

1 (ffi) THANK YOU
THE BRUSSELS OPTIMISTS cannot express enough
of our heartfelt appreciation to the people and the
businesses that contributed to make a little girl's wish
come true. With the support of our community and
area, we will also be able to grant at least two more
wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Our
goal was to raise $5,300.00 and we arrived at a final
total of $17,736.89.
Many people gave in their own way, the purchase of
the tickets, by donating financially, an auction item, or
bidding on the many items up for auction. The people
of Brussels and area are to be commended for a job
well done.
