The readings were part of the season launch party. Records were set on the first day of ticket sales. Stappy, 2nd fBiitfiday Si ft ad u Love Mommy An annual tradition since 1980, the Blyth Festival’s Used Book Sale, will take place this year in Blyth Memorial Community Hall on Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Over the years, this day-long fundraiser has developed a reputation as being Huron County’s largest one day book sale hosting great bargains and wonderful food. The tradition holds strong after 20 years. The book sale features thousands of paperback and hardcover titles across a myriad of interests to It is a great opportunity to volun­ teer while getting the chance to go backstage for real live Canadian theatre. The Blyth Festival Theatre has an abundance of opportunities from ushering performances to planning and participating in special events. For Grade 9 students who have a 40-hour community involvement requirement to fill, the theatre has positions to fit the bill. If videotaping activities is a favourite hobby, the Festival needs a videographer with their own cam­ era and tripod to tape each of the six performances. The overflowing children’s section will stir the imaginations of our youngest readers. Also featured is an increasingly popular music section including books, CDs, cassettes, records, and sheet music. For some folks the books aren’t the main attraction. It takes a strong will to walk away without a taste of the Blyth Festival’s famous homemade pies. You can enjoy by the slice while browsing or take a whole pie home to savour while reading one of your new books. Admission is free and most books are priced at $1, with the salespeople have the opportunity to use their people skills. Interested people will be able to meet the house managers, tour the ’ theatre, get an overview of volun­ teer positions, emergency evacua­ tion procedures, policies and procedures and participate in a question and answer session during a volunteer orientation night, planned for May 17 at 7 p.m. More than 200 Friends of Blyth will be chosen. Both seasoned and inexperienced volunteers are encouraged to attend the training session.
