MARY ELIZABETH CARTER Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Maime) Carter of Clinton passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2000 in her 87th year. Mrs. Carter was born on Feb. 24, 1914 in Hullett Twp. to the late Richard and Lucy Ann (Bromley) Shaddick. She was the beloved wife of G. Ivan Carter who predeceased her in 1988. She was the dear moth­ er of James and Dorothy Carter of RR1, Londesboro. Harvey and Linda Carter of Clinton and Derwin and Colleen Carter of Blyth. She was the loving grandmother of 11 grandchil­ dren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Carter was predeceased by one sister Ruth Shaddick and four brothers James (in infancy), John, Joe and Allan Shaddick. Friends were received at the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., 153 High St., Clinton on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 19 at 2 p.m. Rev. Robert Biggar will officiate. Interment is in Blyth Union Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her three sons James, Harvey and Derwin Carter, and Robert Shaddick, Troy Carter and Jason Carter. Flowerbearers will be Kendra Carter, Anjannette Carter, Sandy Carter-Hynd and Trade Fleet. Judy Carter will read a tribute to her grandmother. Donations to the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation, Huron Adult Day Centre or the Blyth Union Cemetery would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. MARY KATHLEEN HOLLAND Mrs. Mary Kathleen (Moon) Holland of Seaforth and formerly of Blyth passed away in Seaforth on April 10, 2000 in her 93rd year. Mrs. Holland was bom in Hullett Twp. on Oct. 23, 1907 the daughter of the late George and Martha (Tufts) Moon. Mary attended teacher’s college in Stratford and later taught in several small country schools. She retired from Blyth Public School in 1971. Mrs. Holland was a member of the Blyth United Church, the Blyth UCW and a member of the Eastern Star. She was the beloved wife of the late Moody Holland (1973) and dear mother of Barbara Walsh and her husband Larry of Tillsonburg and Valerie McKay and her husband Howard of Barrie. She was the lov­ ing sister and best friend of Olive Heels of Weston and dear grand­ mother of Susan Walsh and Rodney Dobson of Clinton, Howie McKay, Crystal and Dan Winterick and Jeremy McKay all of Barrie. She will be sadly missed by great-grand­ children Courtney, Kayla, Raven, Taylor, Marissa and Kaylie. Mrs. Holland is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Pearl Hamilton and by her brother Carman Moon. Visitation was held at the Blyth Visitation Centre on Tuesday from 7 - 9 p.m. and from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 when the funer­ al service commenced. Rev. Ernest Dow officiated. Interment is in the Blyth Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy dona­ tions to the Blyth United Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. June Webster (Clark) of RR2, Lucknow, passed away at Wingham and District Hospital April 9, 2000. She was 65. Having lived in the Brussels area, Goderich hosts Independence Walk The third annual Walk Towards Independence will be held Sunday, May 28 on the Menesetung Trail, Goderich. This will be the first year that Goderich has participated in the Walk Towards Independence, an event that has become a national event for The Canadian National Institute for the Blind including walks in 16 cities across Canada The walk will take place on a sce­ nic seven km. route. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Food and refresh­ ments will be available. There will be incentive prizes as well as various draw prizes. Prize draws and refreshments at 11 a.m. This event raised over $20,000 for the Southwest District CNIB last Mrs. Webster and her husband Kenneth G. Webster had owned the Texan Grill, now known as JR’s, as well as a shoe store and the hotel in the village. She was a member of Lucknow United Church and Legion Branch #309. Born Aug. 6, 1934, in Orillia, to Christopher and Pearl (Robinson) Clark, Mrs. Webster wed Kenneth Webster in Strathroy on March 8, 1952. She was the loving mother of Sharon and Bruce Weber of Lucknow, Darlene and Don Fischer of RR3, Brussels, Jeff and Cheryl Webster of Bluevale and Daniel and Kelly Webster of London and beloved grandmother of nine grand­ year and the Huron County volun­ teers hope that the Goderich walk will generate $5,000. Walkers rais­ ing a minimum of $100 will receive a t-shirt. A walker raising over $500 will receive a quality fleece sweat­ shirt while $1,000 will get a partici­ pant a nylon walking suit. It is hoped that many CNIB clients will come out to walk. Walking is a great activity for blind and visually impaired people, especially those people who wish to practice their mobility skills or those with guide dogs as they must exercise their dogs on a regular basis. Mrs. Webster was predeceased by six brothers and her parents. Visitation was held at McKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, April 10. Legion Branch #309 held a memo­ rial service Monday evening. The funeral service, from the chapel, was April 11 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Lazaro of Lucknow United Church officiated. Flowerbearers were Kendra Fischer and Jolene Dodds. Pallbearers were Henry Clark, Leonard Clark, Bruce Weber, Don Fischer, Jason Dodds and Kevin Duaber. Interment was at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
