Though the project could cost
more than $100,000 beyond what
the village has for it, Blyth council
agreed at the April 17 meeting, the
reconstruction of Gypsy Lane will
proceed this year.
The project should be completed
by the first of August, said Coun
cillor Jeff Howson, in preparation
for the recreational vehicle and
motorcycle show, Communities in
Bloom judging and the Threshers
reunion.
With the impending cash infu
sion from either the outright sale of
the PUC or partial buy-out in a
shared venture, council said there
would be sufficient funds to replen
ish drained reserves for the comple
tion of the road work. Council
agreed this was the appropriate way

Good Friday service is Friday at
7 p.m. at Blyth United Church. The
to pay for the work rather than only
doing part of the reconstruction or
securing a bank loan.
Councillor Doug Scrimgeour
advised caution on tendering so
that reasonable competition was not
eliminated. Portions of the work
will be tendered separately.
Regardless of the cash shortfall,
council maintained its position to
not raise village taxes. While the
county raised taxes two per cent,
the village rate was decreased so
that total taxes should remain the
same for village ratepayers.
