The presentation was made at the Blyth Minor Hockey banquet last Thursday night. The men were applauded for their dedication, understanding, compassion and guidance during a successful but difficult year. The award is sponsored by The North Huron Citizen. Blyth council briefs Council talks tree removal Bob and Sylvia Trick attended the April 3 Blyth council meeting to discuss a property along the vil­ lage’s main street. Sylvia Tricks’ mother, Viola Sanderson, bought the vacant lot at Plan 168, Lot 66, and plans to have a house built. The Tricks ques­ tioned council on the removal of trees and cutting the curb for a new driveway. They were told any trees on pri­ vate property could be cut by the owner and permission for cutting the curb would have to come from the county as Hwy. 4 (London Road) is a county road.*** Councillors were encouraged to attend a meeting hosted by Canadi­ an Niagara Power Corp, in Seaforth, April 4 regarding PUC restructuring. Stewart said PUC Commission­ ers Tom Cronin and Dale Whitfield had also been invited to attend.*** A motion was passed to adopt the list of grants and donations for 2000, pending any changes to gov­ ernment funding. The Blyth Festival will receive a donation of $1,500 and a grant for rent of $3,680; Blyth Horticultural Society, $450; Belgrave, Blyth, Brussels School Fair, $50; Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary, $25 and Blyth Legion Poppy Fund $29. *** Council supported an application by Kincardine to the Superbuild Corp, for a $100 million repayable loan in order to extend the Trans­ Canada pipeline to the Bruce Chocolate Novelties by SUGAR & SPICE have arrived for Easter Shop early for best selection 110 Queen St., Blyth 519-523-4700 Nuclear site to fuel a co-generation plant and methanol plant. *** The restructuring transition board will deal with a new services agree­ ment for operation and mainte­ nance of the Blyth sewage treatment facility. *** Council authorized a vote for Howick Reeve Norman Fairies as representative on the ROMA Insur­ ance board.*** Stewart was authorized to attend the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario Zone 2 spring meeting, May 12, in Kincardine. The $25 registration fee will be paid.*** The membership for Ontario Good Roads Association, in the amount of $295, was approved for exercise an go a long way!
