Finger food Some students at Brussels Public School dug right in the other day as they enjoyed a Medieval feast at noon in the gymnasium. With costumes, court jesters and no utensils, it was an entertaining experience for the youngsters. William King delights in the hands on approach to eating. The Majestic Women’s Institute held a euchre party in the Brussels library on Wednesday, April 5 with five tables in play. The high lady prize went to Bernice MacFarlane and low lady was Erma Brighton. High man was Jeanne Ireland and low man was Doris McCall. Most lone hands prizes went to Muriel Whitfield and June Jacklin. Viola Adams received the birthday prize. Other draw prizes went to Yvonne Knight, Doug Hamilton, Isabel Armstrong, Edna McLellan, Helen Gallop, Viola Kirkby and Doris Fisher. Lunch was served by Edna Pletch, Pat Button and Kathleen Semple. The poor little daffodils are as chilly as we are and probably just about as happy about it. Grandma Aggie was away checking on her new grandson last week. It also gave Rene a chance to play in the flowers again. (I’m not sure you need to pay her, Aggie. She looks to be having too good a time to be paid besides.) Hello Pete and Linda in Langley, British Columbia. Keep Oma Ten Pas so busy she’ll be glad to get back to Tumberry Street. Best wishes to Jeff and Erin (Johnstone) Alcock who were married in Montego Bay on March 29. Ah romance, warm weather and water. Good thinking Jeff. To help celebrate the moment and I’m sure just to escape Huron County, Brian and Connie and Mark and Tracy Swart tripped along. A celebration is being planned with Ross and Cora doing most of the smiling. Justin Ruttan and Ashley Gropp had lead roles in the F.E. Madill’s drama students presentation of Woody Alien’s God, one of two one-act plays performed at Wingham on Friday night. Other Brussels kids involved in the productions were Mandy Sellers, Julie Douglas, Cassie Bootzin and Jenna Krotz. Best wishes and speedy recovery to Jofm Rutledge who is in Victoria Hospital, London. From the chattering at church on Sunday it sounded as if the Optimists had a successful party the night before with Lori’s excellent food, lots of fun and of course good company. It was true to the club motto - Friend of Youth. Thanks Optimists from our community. Bye now, Betty G. Anyone with stories or news about the Brussels community contact Betty at 887-9231.
