The permits included building a new home on Goderich Street in Auburn for Don Cartwright; fire repair, Linda Welbank, Tumberry Street, Auburn; implement shed and shop, Levi Miller Jr., Lot 26, Cone. 9; pumphouse and storage addition, Bill Robinson, Lot 15, Cone. 9; resi dence, garage, addition and demoli tion, Megga Farms Inc. Lot 13 and 14, Cone. 3; grainery and addition, Bruce Raynard, West Half Lot 19, Cone. 13; storage, Uriah Shetler, Lot 18, Cone. 11; repair/enlarge back area of house, Albert Miller, Lot 21, Cone. 11 and rebuild machine shed, Levi Miller, North Half Lot 24, Cone 9. Council accepted the quote from Frank Cowan Company Ltd. for insurance coverage for the remainder of 2000 at a cost of $16,289. The quote of $3.50 per dog from Joni Yoder, to distribute dog tags and collect the fees was accepted by council. A donation of $100 was given to the Huron County Water Quality Coalition. Authorization was given for a grant of $125 to the Blyth Festival Theatre. Helen Rintoul was appointed to represent council on the Wingham and District Hospital board of gover nors for an additional year following her 1998-2000 term. Councillor Neil Rintoul had earlier declared a pecu niary interest in the matter. Sandra Lawson was appointed weed inspector for the township. General accounts in the amount of $5,645.33 were approved for pay ment. Council supported the county in its appeal of various campground prop erty assessments. Tenders will be sought for approx imately 15,000 to 20,000 tonnes of crushed-gravel. Support was given to a petition from Pickering asking the federal and provincial governments to give the utmost priority to the protection of children from sexual exploitation and copies of this endorsement will be sent to the minister of justice, the attorney general of Canada, attorney general of Ontario and Save the Children. Council endorsed the application to the SuperBuild Corporation by Kincardine for a $100 million repayable loan in order to extend the TransCanada Pipeline to the Bruce Nuclear site to fuel a co generation plant and methanol plant. Copies of the endorsement will be sent to Kincardine and sever al MPPs including Huron MPP Helen Johns. A resolution from Wellesley requesting the provincial govern ment turn over a percentage of the fuel tax, gas tax and license and reg istration tax to the lower tier govem- E. Wawanosh has surplus Alan Reed, BDO Dunwoody pre sented the financial statement to East Wawanosh council on March 21. A surplus of $19,538 was realized of which $2,566 was surplus for the Belgrave Community Centre board. The membership fee of $25 was approved for the Huron County Municipal Officer’s Association. The registration fee of $15 will be paid for each councillor and staff attending the annual meeting in Bayfield on April 14. Approval was given for Clerk Winona Thompson to sign the Emergency Measures Agreement with the Avon Maitland District School Board that F.E. Madill and ment to maintain downloaded roads was endorsed by council. Copies will be sent to the premier, minister of finance and MPP Johns. East Wawanosh Central could be used as a shelter in time of an emer gency. Canadian Red Cross Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario received approval to sell lottery tickets in East Wawanosh Twp. Grant Anger was appointed as municipal weed inspector for East Wawanosh for the year 2000. Council approved the 2000 budget for the Blyth Union Cemetery board in the amount of $17,575. A donation of $750 was also approved if requested.
