Fed steers and heifers sold $1 to $2 higher with cows selling on a sfrong market On Thursday holstein veal sold $2 higher with beef veal selling steady. Lambs sold on a steady mar­ ket. There were 425 steers on offer selling from $102 to $107 with sales to $124.50. One blue steer con­ signed by Kada Farms, Bluevale, weighing 1,370 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $124.50 with their over­ all offering of fifty steers averaging 1,483 lbs. selling for an average of $110.32. Four limousin steers con­ signed by Jim Howatt, Londesboro, averaging 1,451 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $118.75 with his overall offering of twenty-one steers averaging 1,475 lbs. selling for an average of $ 1 11.46. Four steers consigned by Gordon Brooks, Lucknow, averaging 1,460 lbs. sold for an average of $108.72 with sales to $113. Forty steers consigned by Earl, Dave and Dale Foster, St. Marys, averaging 1,465 lbs. sold for an average of $105.07 with sales to Ag. ministers strike deal on farm income safety nets Federal and Provincial Ministers agreed March 23 to a plan for farm income safely nets over the next three years. The plan includes basic safety net programming and an income disaster component. The ministers will now take this plan back to their respective Cabinets to be ratified. The hope is to accomplish this as soon as possi­ ble for the good of farmers, who have been waiting anxiously to find out the support they can expect. The ministers also stressed the agreement is designed to provide the greatest degree of farm income sta­ bilization possible and that they are very pleased with the progress made over the past two days. The tentative agreement would provide $665 million for basic safe­ ty net programs and access to $435 million in income disaster assistance in each of the next three years. ATVs stolen Sometime during the evening of March 23-24, unknown persons entered the garages of two separate properties located at Lot 7 and Lot 8 on Cone. 2 Goderich Twp. The federal minister of agriculture and agri-food will be seeking fund­ ing to ensure no province receives less than its current share.
