WZ hosts year-end potluck
The final WI potluck lunch was
attended by 50 members and
friends on March 21. President
Wilma Higgins introduced the
guest speaker, Eleanor Ward of
Wingham, who showed slides and
commentediion her trip to Cuba.
She went as part of a group
building a Baptist Church there.
She had on display some of the
items she brought back with her
and answered several questions
from the audience about the
country.
At the business meeting the roll
call was answered by telling the old
phone number on the party line.
Members were reminded to hand in
the volunteer hours sheet and have
reports ready for the annual
meeting in April. There is an
executive meeting in Londesboro
on April 3 to plan the district
annual.
The Slice of Huron program will
be held on April 11 - 14.
Kay Roberts will contact the
Huron County Museum about how
to preserve the old painting of
Belgrave. The program for the
April meeting will be the winners
of the public speaking and science
fair at EWPS.

9 a.m. The senior citizen meeting is
on Friday, April 7 at 1 p.m. in the
Belgrave Community Centre.

euchre on Wednesday, March 22 in
the Women’s Institute Hall.
Winners were: high lady, Doris
Michie; second high lady, Freda
Johnston; lone hands, Lois
Chamney; low lady, Jean Nethery;
high man, Graeme McDowell;
second high man, Lloyd Appleby;
lone hands, Jack Taylor; low man,
Harvey Black.
The next euchre is Wednesday,
March 29 at 8 p.m.
. At the Belgrave Community
Centre on Friday, March 24 there
were 11 tables of shoot in play.
Winners were: high lady, Mary
McIntosh; second high lady, Mabel
Wheeler; most shoots, Jane Grasby;
low lady, Catherine Wilson; high
man, Nell Johnston; second high
man, Merle McFarlane; most
shoots, Kay Rich; low man, John
Norman.

On Tuesday, April 4 at 8 p.m. the
Evening Unit will be held at the
home of Muriel Coultes.
There is a “Come and Go
Shower” for Melissa White on
Saturday, April 8 from 2 - 4 p.m. in
the Belgrave Women's Institute
Hall. Melissa is the fiance of Tim
Coultes.
On Sunday, April 9 Communion
will be served at 11 a.m. at Knox
United Church. Rev. Ernest Dow
will be conducting the service.
A celebration of Ministry Service
will be held at Calvin Brick United
Church on Sunday, April 9 at 2
p.m. Past ministers will be
participating. A social time will
follow the service.
Larry and Sonja Ellis of
Whitevale visited recently with
their Uncle Lewis and Aunt Helen
Stonehouse.

While billed as a fun tournament, the Brussels Kings and
Queens broomball squad battled hard against Team Ferg
during Saturday morning play at the Blyth arena
High scores in league play
There were some high-scoring
games in Blyth Industrial League
play this past weekend.
On Friday evening, Auburn
topped the Chiefs 10-7. Scoring for
Auburn were Peter Craig (three),
Ryan Chamney (three), Steve Plun
kett (two), Brent Andrews and
Mike Millian.
Chief scorers were Brent McCaw
(two), Ryan Crawford (three), Brad
Jewitt and Dennis Vere.
On Sunday, the Chiefs were
downed 10-3 by the Bulldogs.
Points for the Bulldogs were tallied
by Jamie Bromley (two), Mike
McDonald (two), Robb Finch
(two), Mike Bromley (two), Craig
Marks and Darryl Bromley.
Crawford (two) and Darren
McCash hit the twine of the Chiefs.
The Sting also beat out the Stars
by a 10-3 score on Sunday. Doug
Craig (four), Steve Siertsema
(three), Jim Oster (two) and Kurt
Whitfield beat the Star netminder
while Mike Ansley, Dave Ansley
and Mike Haggitt got the puck over
the line for the Stars.
