A Note from Betty
This last week of March sure snuck up on us. Once again I must be having
a good time ‘cause I don’t know where the month went.
The green growth of spring is more evident each day even as we wait
pessimistically for the last snow of the season. Maybe we’ll get lucky and
miss it.
On Sunday my Uncle Donald and Aunt Violet Jenkins came for a wee
visit and brought with them a picture of my mother’s graduation from 1932.
It was great to see and even better comparing the family traits in the newest
generation - that forehead, those eyes and the chin. This heredity stuff is
pretty powerful. Brothers Bob and Bill with wives Barb and Pauline were
here as well, and each of us could see our children in this old picture of
Mom - neat!
For anyone who transports infants and children it would be worth their life
for you to get a copy of the April Reader’s Digest - the statistics are
horrible. Only 20 per cent of our children are properly buckled into vehicles
for many surprising reasons. Give it a read and then get your kids harnessed
properly. It’s their life.
Muriel Whitfield is celebrating 80 on Thursday. If you’re on her walking
route step out and sing to her. That’s tomorrow - so don’t forget. She had a
good surprise last Saturday when her daughter Lois took her and sister Doris
and cousin Ruth Johnston to the Grey Rose in Hanover. Daughter Sharon
and the sons-in-law Lyle and Gord had all the grandkids there and other
family gathered for the arrival of the birthday girl. Twenty-five special
people in Muriel’s life were there to celebrate this special day with her.
Enjoy Muriel.
Don't forget to let the village office know your ideas for the historical
mural.
Check the bulletin boards downtown each day. There is something else to
keep us out of trouble or at least entertain us.
Bye now,
Betty G.
