Stone School Road residents express concern Morris Twp. councillors respond­ ed to a letter from Stone School Road residents at the March 7 ses­ sion of council. A letter will be sent to all “Save the Road” petitioners advising that it is council’s understanding Stone School Road will not be used on a continual basis for hauling gravel. It is being used until the half load limit is lifted from the paved road. Council received a phone call from a Brussels resident expressing her pleasure with the name of McLean Line and hoped it would not be changed to Button Line. Council confirmed Sideroad 20-21, Cone. 6- 10 would be named Button Line due to a conflict of names with another area. Animal Control Officer Dale Sparks submitted a letter to council informing them of his resignation from the position. After a discussion with Turnberry council by phone, Morris council was author­ ized to advertise for a replacement pending approval of the transition board. Council will apply for the Ontario 2000 Main Street Program for gates and fences to beautify the cemeter­ ies. Grants were approved for Huron County Farm and Safety, $50; Huron Plowmen’s Association, $100 and Lung Association, $50. A cheque for the remainder of the cost of the fire truck will be forward­ ed to the Blyth and District Fire Area board. Council received a refund from of $117.72 from the Wingham fire board which was the township’s share of the surplus. Approval was given for the board’s 2000 budget in the amount of $200,120, subject to approval by the Morris-Tumberry transition board. With the agreement of Tumberry Twp. council, Morris will proceed with tendering for gravel, chloride and paving, subject to approval by the transition board. The tax dates for 2000 will be April 28, Sept. 22 and Nov. 24. Scouts, Venturers plan for Jamboree Continued from page 3 for those Scouts and Venturers who want to attend the Canadian Jamboree in Prince Edward Island July 6 - 14, 2001. Almost 600 tickets have been sold for the April 5 draw for four homemade paddles. The youth who has sold the most tickets will also receive a paddle as a reward. LCBO glass recycling brought in $665. General and park accounts were approved for payment in the amount of $147,664.94. Road accounts, in the amount of $28,152.48 were approved for payment.
