The Brussels Curling Club
winners of the February draw were:
first, 44 points, skip Steve Steiss,
vice Fran Bremner, second Tom
Warwick; second, 42 points, skip
Stew Steiss, vice Anne Uhler,
second John Gillis, lead Murray
Pepper; third, 36 points, skip Mike
Alexander, vice Nora Stephenson,
second Scott Patterson, lead Connie
Alcock; tied for fourth. 34 points,
Steve Bowles, Ruth Bauer, Jean
Bewley, John Vanass and Jim
Patterson, Barb Bowles, Bill Clark.

Euchre winners
Ethel euchre was held on March
6 with 16 tables in play. It was
hosted by Dorothy Dilworth and
Karen Bowles.
Winners were: 50/50, Jeanne
Ireland; lucky chair, Charlie
Harrison; high lady, Edna
McLellan; high man, John Subject;
lone hands, lady, Agnes Harrow,
Viola Adams and Annie McCourt;
lone hands, man, Harold Metcalfe,
Ross Stephenson, Leon Schneider,

Worden; lucky tally, Isabelle Craig,

The annual hall board meeting
was held on March 7. Hall board
members for 2000 are Dorothy
Dilworth, Brenda Boyer, Bob
Bateman, Helen Dobson, Grace
Smith and two council
representatives Helen Cullen and
Robin Dunbar.
The euchre parties have proven
to be successful with a good
attendance. Several updates to the
hall were considered for the
coming year. The hall is for rent at
a reasonable price

Brett Hunt of Ethel finished well when he competed in the
provincial speed skating championship in Kingston
recently.

The Hunt family of Ethel recent
ly competed in the provincial speed
skating finals with very good
results.
Held in Kingston, March 4-5,
Kathy Hunt won the Masters'
Women category.
Twelve-year-old Brett had an
excellent season, said mom Kathy,
“making massive improvements,
particularly in the 55 metre.” He
finished fourth of 24 skaters in the
Huether; secretary-treasurer,
Sharon Brown; draw committee,
Kendra Cardiff, Claudia Spink;
kitchen, Doris Fischer, Brenda
Linton; press, Nora Stephenson.
A delicious potluck dinner was
enjoyed at the meeting. A fun
curling game followed with the
best shots, Doris Fischer and Fran
Bremner winning a ham.
The annual curling banquet was
March 11 at the arena.

Brett also competed in the relay
competition, now an official event.
His team placed third.
Nine-year-old Cayli placed sev
enth of 12 in the Bantam class.
While still enjoying skating,
Kathy Hunt has also moved to
coaching as well. “I have a deep
knowledge of skating and 1 know
what is needed with the kids.”
