Walkerburns hold auction
Brand new
The Walkerburn Club met at
Vera Penfound’s home on March
23 for a busy afternoon. They tied
four lap rugs.
The secretary and treasurer
reports were given by Bernice
Norman. Club members were
pleased that Jackie McKee had
brought Martha Daer, the oldest
member, to be in attendance. Jackie
also read the report that went to
Stratford with the quilt.
Eileen McCiinchey invited the
club for the April 5 meeting.
The draw, donated by Betty
Archambault, was won by Jackie
McKee.
Jackie was then the auctioneer
for a miscellaneous sale. The club
missed Betsey Verwey for this job
and are very sorry that she is not
well.
Blyth firefighters were filling the new pumper which arrived this past Monday. The badly
needed vehicle, which was driven from British Columbia is replacing the tired 1984 yellow
pumper. The cost was $215,000 plus the installation of a $10,000 phone unit.
Rev. talks of dream web
Tops join Swinging Srs.
A musical prelude with Bernice
Gross, organist, welcomed the
congregation to the service March
5 followed by the responsive
invitation to worship.
The children were invited to the
front and discovered a “dream
web” as the mystery. Rev. Paul
Ross explained that the ilndians
used it to help solve dreams and
mysteries.
The scripture was from 2 Kings
2, regarding the departure of Elijah
in a whirlwind to heaven. In the
New Testament from Mark 9,
Christ with Peter. James and John
went up in a mountain and there He
was transfigured. From 2
Corinthians 4 Paul spoke of the
knowledge and presence of God’s
light.

UCW.
Auburn Horticultural Society
meets on March 13 at 8 p.m. The
guest speaker will be Nancy
Hyslop speaking on herbs and
grasses.

All district people who were able
to attend the Biyth Festival choir

enjoyed lovely music and sacred
songs.
The Lions Club breakfast on
March 12 will be special for Don
and Erma Cartwright who recently
lost all in a fire.
