HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2000-02-23, Page 15ESTELLA ADAMS Estella Kathleen Mary (Murphy) Adams passed away peacefully at Restview Retirement Home in Clinton on Feb. 4, 2000. She was in her 88th year. Bom on March 8. 1912 in Hullett Twp., she was the beloved only child of the late Bill and Kate (Little) Murphy. She married John Lewis Adams in 1943 and was predeceased by him in 1972. Estella was the devoted mother of Leland and Cathy Adams of Mississauga, and Gloria and Alex Westerhout of Clinton area. She was the loving grandmother of Amanda Adams of Wolfville, NS and Evan Adams at home, hs well as Adam and Tyler Westerhout both at home. Estella is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, many of whom reside in Huron County and some who live in California and North Dakota. Estella was a lifelong member of Bums United and later Londesboro United Church. She enjoyed dancing and playing euchre for fun and also participated in activities at the Happy Gang Seniors and the Cheerio Club in Londesboro for many years. She was a practical, hardworking farmer all her life and for years sold eggs to Livermore’s in Clinton and cream to Bisset’s Creamery in Goderich to earn extra money for her family, whom she dearly loved. Her family will miss her presence in their lives and will love her and cherish their memories of her forev­ er. She was a unique and very special person, quiet and independent, at times guarding her privacy. She enjoyed her own company and was used to it all her life after she lost her mother at the tender age of 15. Family and friends were received at the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home in Clinton on Sunday, Feb. 6 in the afternoon and evening, where the funeral service was conducted on Monday, Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ernest Dow officiating. A eulogy written by Estella’s daughter was also read by Rev. Dow. Spring interment to follow in Blyth Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, dona­ tions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Londesboro United Church. He is also sur­ vived by his sister-in-law Villetta Keating of London. Mr. Keating was predeceased by his parents Charles and Annie (Edwards) Keating, broth­ ers Norman and Mel and sister Hazel (Mrs. Stanley Snell). Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Friday, from 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. John P. Vaudry officiating. KATHLEEN RUTH ELLIOTT Mrs. Kathleen Elliott of RR1, Lucknow, passed away at Wingham and District Hospital, Wingham on Friday, Feb. 18, 2000. She was 68. The former Kathleen Forster was the beloved wife of Walter Elliott. She was the dear mother of Paul and Kathy Elliott of Brussels, Ruth and Paul Laidlaw of Belmont, Barry and Crystal Elliott of East Wawanosh Twp., David and Susan Elliott of London, Karen Elliott and Steve Keppel-Jones of Sunnyvale, California. She is also survived by her sisters Joan and Ron Perrott of Goderich, Irma and Ross Henderson of Lucknow, Norma and Norman Stewart of Lambeth, brothers John and Rena Forster and Lome and Inez Forster, all of Lucknow and 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Elliott was predeceased by her parents William and Mary (Aitcheson) Forster and her grand­ son Curtis Elliott. JAMES MARTIN (RIP) THOMPSON Mr. Jim (Rip) Thompson of Blue vale passed away on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000 at Wingham and District Hospital. He was 67. Mr. Thompson was the beloved husband of the former Dorothy Shaw. He was the dear father of Kenneth Thompson of RR4, Wingham and Sandra Thompson of Bluevale. He was the loving brother of John and Margaret Thompson of Bluevale, Bill and Shirley Thompson of RR1, Wingham, Bob and Janette Thompson of RR4, Wingham and Sharon and Vic Stackhouse of Belmont. Mr. Thompson was predeceased by his parents John and Dorothy (Gamiss) Thompson, his daughter Donna (1980) his sisters Mary Louise (1938), Gail (1949), Kay McLennan (1996) and his brother Donald (1972). RUTH AUDREY TICE At Braemar Retirement Centre, Tumberry Twp. on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, Mrs. Ruth Tice of Blyth passed away at the age of 89. The former Ruth Hahn was the beloved wife of the late Clifford Tice who predeceased her in 1991. CELIA JANE ADAMS Mrs. Celia Jane Adams of Seaforth Manor and formerly of Hullett Twp., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000 at the age of 83. Mrs. Adams was the beloved wife of Clifford Earl Adams who prede­ ceased her June 17, 1999.
