Downed 3-2, Josh Albrechtas and John Bokhout scored for Blyth. Justin Dobie and Darcey Cook earned assists. Jeff Elliott and Joel Salverda shared time between the posts. The squad moved into consola­ tion playoffs Feb. 10 against a tough Normanby team. The Bulldogs came out with a great effort but failed to push their way by the determined Normanby players. Cook tallied both Blyth netters, one late in the first with the assis­ tance of Blake Hesselwood and Albrechtas and another at 14:36 of the third to shut out the scoring for the 4-2 loss. Albrechtas earned another assist. The second game in the best of five series moved to Normanby Feb. 17. The squad challenged the net- minder several times but were unable to stuff one by. Salverda had a solid game in net, giving his team a chance. Blyth was shutout 2-0. There was no looking back for Blyth when they played the third matchup Feb. 20. They came out flying in this one with Cook leading the way. He notched a hattrick and two helpers in the 6-1 win. He got things started at 7:44 of the first on a solo effort then struck again 28 seconds later on pass from Albrechtas. Bokhout scored at 4:52 on a nice feed from Cook. Orie Falconer* closed out the period, scoring on a breakaway at 4:25. Assists went to Brittany Peters and Devin Jenkins. Up 4-1 going into the second, Cook hit for another as he slapped one by at 12:39. Bokhout completed the scoring for Blyth as he wristed one under the crossbar. Cook assisted. Elliott made several amazing saves for Blyth. Coach Haggitt said the team skat­ ed their hearts out and kept Nor­ manby off balance. “Their physical power has improved greatly and defensive zone coverage was exceptional.” Bantams take on Wallace The Blyth Bantams, having defeated Bayfield have moved into the secojid round of playoffs against Wallace. In the first game, Feb. 14, at home the team battled its way to victory winning by one point. The first period saw Mike Bean skate in to score with Trevor Koehler taking the assist.
