Brussels Atom Reps lose series to Drayton The Brussels Atom Reps played off against Drayton last week. Tuesday night Drayton travelled to Brussels for game three. Brussels was down two games. The home team started the scoring in the first period when James Roberts scored, with help from Steven Ropp and Christopher Jutzi. Drayton got the next goal midway through the second period but before the period ended, Brussels was once again in the lead Sting beats Auburn 8-3 The Blyth Industrial Hockey League action this past week saw the Sting down Auburn 8-3. Scoring for the Sting were Kurt Whitfield and Steve Siertsema, each with two, Todd MacDonald, Jim Oster, Darryl Chalmers and Doug Craig. Novices tie On Saturday the Blyth Novice Reps skated to a tie in Bayfield. The first period had the hosts jumping to an early lead, but before the buzzer sounded, Roman Sturzenegger tied it with help from Tony Bean. Bean turned around in the second to score one of his own and give his squad a one-point lead going into the final period. Bayfield tied it, then jumped ahead, but with just under a second left on. the clock, Curtis Robertson lit the light a final time for Blyth. Bean picked up the assist. The Novice playoffs begin Wednesday, Feb. 16 against Bel­ more in Blyth at 6 D.m. Bantams win Despite the 4-1 score for Wing­ ham Bantam Girls, it was a close contest when they matched up with Teeswater, Feb. 11. Kept off the board in the first period, Carly Quennell finally got the Teeswater netminder to score in the second. Mia Bieman picked up the assist. Sherri Ross tallied one unassisted before the buzzer ended the period. In the third, Ross, with helpers from Kerri Meier and Rebecca Bru­ ton scored her second, followed by one from Bieman to close out the scoring. Alison Quennell was solid in the Wingham net. OPP on trails Officers in Huron continue their snowmobile patrols in the county. Over the past week patrols were conducted with many snowmobilers stopped and some charged. Most of these violations were for drivers not carrying their required insurance, driver’s licence and registration forms. The Huron OPP would like to remind all snowmobilers to carry the required paperwork and information that is needed to drive on the trails. when Matt White scored with Mitch Blake getting the assist. White scored an unassisted goal. James Roberts scored again with assists going to White and Justin Mayne. Drayton scored one more goal Auburn point-getters were Brent Andrews, Steve Plunkett and Mike Millian. The Bulldogs came out on top of the Stars by a whopping 10-2. Mike McDonald led the scoring for the Dogs with a hattnck, while Chris Taylor tallied two.
