Madill Secondary School last Thursday. Bantams rout Drayton It was an up and down week for the Wingham Bantams Girls when they took a loss and a win. The loss came Feb. 3 when they travelled to Belmore. Meeting a very evenly matched team, the squads traded scoring throughout the contest with Wing­ ham coming up short in the 5-4 tally. Scorers were Nicole White, Mia Bieman (two) and Rebecca Brut- done Several Brussels skaters competed at the 32nd annual Interclub Figure Skating competition held in St. Marys Jan. 30. Fourteen area clubs were involved. Grey has surplus At the Jan. 31 meeting of Grey Twp. council, the 1999 financial statements which indicated an accumulated net surplus of $144,000 compared to an accumulated deficit of $24,055 at the end of 1998 were accepted. Council endorsed a resolution that had been circulated by the City of Niagara Falls asking the federal government to amend the Young Offenders Act to make it more of a deterrent to young offenders. At a meeting held earlier in the month, Council accepted the 2000- 2001 quote from Sholdice Insurance and Cowan Public Entity amounting to $20,192 plus taxes which represents a zero per cent increase from the previous year. Winners were: high lady, Isabella Bremner; high man, Joanne H.; low lady, Isabelle Craig; low man, John Subject; lone hand lady, Marion L. Harrison; travelling lone hand; Edna McLellan; tally cards, Lloyd Weber, Bernice MacFarlane, Mary Davidson, and Tom Stevens; 50/50, Gordon Thedorf. Thanks to Gord, Julie and Doug Mitchell and to Marg Saxon for helping with the card party. A reminder to people to save their Knechtel and Zehrs tapes and to donate them to-the Cranbrook Community Centre. Eventually they will be translated into some Smith hosts WMS The WMS meeting of the Knox Presbyterian Church, Cranbrook was held at the home of Mrs Joe Smith on Feb. 1. Despite the stormy day there was a good turnout. Mrs Leslie Knight was the leader and opened with a verse and a short prayer. The theme of her reading was about how Jesus wants people to treat their fellow man. During Girls arrive The community welcomes two new citizens. Congratulations to Joe and Barb Terpstra who had a baby girl on Feb. 5. Emily Mae weighed in at 8 lbs.3oz . Congratulations also to Neil and Marie Mitchell on the birth of their daughter Sarah Kathleen, weighing 9 lbs. 4oz. the Wingham Golf and Curling Club. The Fair rink had 49.5 points. Members of the rink include, skip Fair, third Jeff McCowan, second Adam Glen and lead Chris Van Loo. The rink of Don Edgar, Jamie Robinson, Scott West and Wayne Ross won the W. G. Thompson draw with 55 points. The Edgar foursome also earned the overall Brussels Livestock award. Ucensed Under LLBO income. Every little bit helps. The financial accounting books of the Cranbrook Community Centre were presented and approved at the Grey Twp. offices. The work of the Hall board and the community in a variety of activities and rentals resulted in the coverage of running costs and a small surplus. As gTant moneys are not paid anymore it means that so far the running of the hall has been self-sufficient. Plans are being considered to restructure the basement of the hall which is fully wheelchair accessible so that euchre parties can take place there instead of upstairs. This would also reduce the heating costs. these winter months people are to focus on forgiveness of themselves and each other. Mrs Knight took scripture from Luke 6: 27-38. She then reviewed the constitution and the bylaws of the Women’s Missionary Society. It was decided that there shall be no change in the name of the society. It will remain the WMS. Mrs. Stewart Stevenson, president, handled the business portion and called on Mrs. Jack Knight for the treasurer’s report. Mrs. Murray Crawford gave the topic on “Broken Relationship” using home examples from the Bible such as Cain and Abel, Joseph and his brothers.
