Available at: Council reviews draft bylaw As the implementation date for tne 9-1-1 system draws nearer, Blyth council reviewed a draft bylaw, at the Jan. 31 session, which set out policy for numbering of buildings, affixing numbers, prop erty identification and street signs. Council discussed the size and colour of numbers which should be required as the draft bylaw stated they could be 3” reflective or 5” if not reflective. Councillor Rob Lawrie suggested the village go with 5” black num bers. However, it was also noted that some residents may want to use other numbers than those pur chased by the village. That may be permitted if the numbers meet the policy requirements.*** With just two years before Blyth marks its 125th aniversary, council agreed to reserve some money for the occasion. A committee will be set up to begin making arrange ments for 2002. They also encour aged community organizations, groups and individuals to begin making plans now for the celebra tion. *** Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart was authorized to send a letter to the Blyth-Hullett landfill site board asking that they reconsider their position in respect to calling ten ders for covering and digging at the site.*** Council supported a resolution from the City of Niagara Falls in respect to petitioning the govern ment to amend the Young Offend ers Acts. *** Councillor Murray Nesbitt will attend a meeting held by Morris Twp. council, Feb. 8, to discuss the Bowes and Cockerline municipal drain engineer's report.*** A cell phone has been purchased for the Citizens on Patrol.*** Continued on page 10 Anyone interested in taking part in the Blyth Lions Youth Exchange Program during the summer of 2000 please contact Brenda Brown at 523-4952 by Feb. 29 You must be between the ages of 17 to 21 to participate V Sugar & Spice Chocolates V Candies V Cherished Teddies V Collector Plates V Prints Open Monday, February 14 for your shopping convenience Carol’s Candies & Collectables Queen St., Blyth < 519-523-4700 V V uMi a special gift Candy-filled chocolate hearts Boxed chocolates (all under $10.)
