Getting by the defender
A Wingham Bantam Girl uses her speed to outrace a

The Brussels Atom Reps played
Howick in the first round of
playoffs.
Howick scored their only goal in
the first period. Brussels then
dominated for the rest of the game.
Christopher Jutzi scored in the
first period with assists going to
Jordan Campbell and Andrew
McDonald. Jutzi scored again with
McDonald assisting. Matt White
then scored two goals with assists
going to Adam McClure, Cory
Chapman and James Roberts.
Mitch Blake carried the puck the
distance in the third period and
scored an unassisted goal. McClure
then scored two of his own goals
with White and Blake assisting.
Jutzi ended the scoring when Greg
Bowers and McDonald set him up
in front of the net for a final score
of 8 -1 for Brussels.
In game two Howick played a
Girls down Wallace stronger game, starting the scoring
with just under four minutes left in
the second period. Brussels scored

were downed 5-1 by Wallace in
weekend play.
Carly Quennell scored the first
goal of the game unassisted.
With 1:40 left in the first period,
Wallace hit for two, 18 seconds
apart, to take the lead.
Wingham was unable to shut
Wallace down in the second, allow
ing three goals.
The home team seemed to get on
track in the third and although they
didn’t score, they were able to keep
Wallace from adding to their tally.
The next game is Feb. 3.
Tykes
settle
for tie
The Blyth Tykes White squad
had to settle for a tie when they met
Bayfield, Jan. 29.
Blyth came out strong on the
first, netting three while holding
Bayfield scoreless.
Hitting the mark for Blyth were
Dallas Pennington and Greg Dodds
(two). Assists went to Colton Kerr,
Kaytee Dodds and Tyler Steven
son.
Blyth was unable to hold off the
home team as they struck for three
in the second to tie it up.

Atoms win first round
Andrew McDonald shot the puck in
on a pass from Greg Bowers.
In the third period Jutzi scored on
a pass from White who then scored
on a pass from Chase Chapman.
Howick got their second goal but
was soon answered when
McDonald put the puck over the
line in a pile up in front of the net.
Justin Mayne then scored one from
a sitting position when Steven
Ropp got the puck to him in front
of the net.
The Howick fans erupted again
when they got their third goal of
the game. White finished the
scoring when Jutzi passed him the
puck.
The final score was 6 - 3 for
Brussels.

A Review of activities at
SEAFORTH COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
Are you the parent of a new baby? If so, we have a program of interest to
you. Regardless of where you delivered, you and your baby are welcome to
attend each Friday morning, a New Parent Support Service, “Morning Out”
from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Seaforth Community Hospital. Karen Searle,
Facilitator invites you to share information and experiences, also discusses a
variety of postpartum topics. Baby’s weight and growth are monitored.
Weekly topics are chosen by parents. Older siblings are welcome with
supervision and activities provided on a pre-registration basis. For further
information and to register, please contact Grace Dolmage (Mon. - Fri.) at
527-3001.
“MORNING OUT” New Parent Support Group please note there will be
NO SESSION FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2000 Sessions will resume Fri ,
FEBRUARY 11th.
February is “Heart & Stroke Month”. Public Health have a wealth of
information to promote healthy lifestyles and decrease the risk of heart attack
and strokes. The following booklets are available by contacting (519) 482-
3416: “Food Steps” for increased healthy eating; “Walk This Way”
suggestions for becoming more physically active; “One Step At A Time” for
persons desiring to quit smoking. An opportunity for smoking cessation,
challenges smokers to have quit smoking by Feb. 29th and remain a non-
smoker for one month to be eligible for “a “Quit and Win” Contest. Prizes are
very enticing; to inquire about Entry Forms please contact the Public Health
Office.
If you are the parent of an elementary school child in Huron or Perth County,
you will have received a “Heart Health Challenge” calendar home from the
school, outlining suggestions to engage in during the weeks of February 1-
14th. The family can become involved in the promotion of healthy lifestyle
and physical activity daily by completing the calendar using Healthy Eating,
Active Living, Smoke-free Living activities daily. All entries submitted are
eligible to win great prizes. Families with 30 or more hearts will be eligible
to win the grand family prize.
“The Canadian Family Guide to Stroke” perhaps you or a loved one has
experienced the trauma of a stroke. There is a helpful paperback available in
the Hospital Gift Shop that provides a wealth of information to help to cope
with life changes resultant of stroke. It contains hplpful charts, illustrations
and personal stories of stroke survivors, prevention, treatment and recovery.
It features current, easily understood information and is produced by the Can.
