A Note from Betty
Well wasn't that just one of the nicest Januarys we’ve had in a while. I
kept waiting for the big blow. Hurrah it didn’t come. Oh well another time
perhaps. Those days of sunshine were just the icing on the cake.
Lots of chatter and planning this week regarding annual meetings for our
local organizations. Time to look at the past, Tejoice in the good stuff and
then take a good hard look at the things we need to do better. Maybe that’s
why we hold them in January or early February, to maintain the momentum
of the resolutions we made at the start of the year. Here’s to a better year for
your organization.
Harold and Karen Bridge are in the home stretch now for Shirley Anne’s
wedding. Parties and celebrations have kept them busy. A shower held in
Listowel found a new source of entertainment. A daring duo - we’ll call
"Fire and Ice” made a lasting impression on the bridal shower guests. The
Chippendale organization are still safe we think.
Hello to Linda and Pete in Nanimo, B.C. I enjoyed seeing you at
Christmas and neglected to send the message. They are on the favourites list
of Hank and Agnes Tenpas.
Jean Workman is kicking along nicely, back at Seaforth Hospital after a
stint checking out hospital care in Stratford.
If you forgot Joan Jacob’s birthday this week you probably missed
Groundhog Day too. Oh well, you’ll do better next year I’m sure.
If you're free on Sunday drop in and see Jane Devries at Huronlea and
wish her a Happy Birthday.
Bye now,
Betty G.

In Grade 2 they have been
making carrots and measuring
them. They also have been studying
animals.
Grade 3s have been practicing
division in math. They have also
been making art. It has to be doing
something in the snow with a
horizon scene and with people
playing.
The Grade 4s have been going
from classroom to classroom
comparing who thinks the graphic
photo on cigarette packages will
make a difference. More believe it
will.
The Grade 5/6 class has started a
new unit which is called
Millennium Me. They also started

present it to their class.
From Grade 4 up, students have

Top sales
The 1st Brussels Beavers, Cubs and Scouts had their
annual popcorn sales this past October to December.
Sean Slater from the Cubs had over $1,000 in sales. This
entitled him to receive a three-person tent, a mess kit,
compass and lantern. Money raised by this fundraiser
goes towards equipment, outings and supplies for all
sections. In total there was over $3,000 in sales. Sean
was one of the first recipients of the new equipment in this
