Planning a show
The Seaforth District High School All Girls Marching Band will be presenting two shows, one
at the Brussels Public School on Feb. 16. The evening will also feature the local school
band.

Brighten a cold winter night with
the sound of music. Two upcoming
music nights featuring the Seaforth
District High School All Girls
Marching Band will be held during
February.
On Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7:30
p.m., the Holmesville Public
School band will host a Music
Night at the Goderich Twp. Hall in
Holmesville. Admission is $2 at the

Gallery Stratford presents
Marianne Brandis, local writer, to
give a reading from her new novel
titled Singularity, and Cindy
McMenemy, Waterloo artist, to
give an artist’s talk about her
exhibition currently on view titled
Family Matters. The reading and
talk will commence on Sunday,
Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. at Gallery Stratford
followed by a reception. Both
women are interested in aspects of
Schneider Haus set to open
The 11th Folk Artist-in
Residence at Joseph Schneider
Haus is cross-stitch artist Ingrid
Steiner of Waterloo.
Steiner was introduced to cross-
stitch, sewing, and knitting as a
young schoolgirl in her native
Holland. In Grade 1 she made her
first sampler and cross-stitch has
been a life-long hobby ever since.
She loves to copy old samplers as
well as to create commemorative
samplers for family weddings and
anniversaries. She is a longtime
member of a Dutch organization,

Brussels Public School will host
the second music night in Brussels
at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb.
16. Admission is $2 with proceeds

parallels are evident in their work.
Singularity is one woman’s
reflection on being single and
alone, facing old age. Brandis is the
author of five novels recreating
Ontario history in the early 19th
century: The Tinde rbox, The
Quarter-Pie Window, The Sign of
the Scales, Fire Ship, and
Rebellion.. Many have won awards.
Family Matters is an exhibition
"Merkwaardig”, as an association
of lovers of samplers and cross-
stitch.
During her year in residence
Ingrid will share her knowledge
and skill in a series of
demonstrations, workshops, and a

McMenemy received her
Bachelor of fine Arts at the
University of Waterloo in Ontario
and has recently had a solo
exhibition at the Burlington Arts
Centre in Burlington and
participated in a group show at the
Grimsby Art Gallery in Grimsby,
Ontario.

Doon Heritage Crossroads is
hosting its fifth annual “Seedy
Saturday” on Feb. 19 from 10 a.m.
until 4 p.m. This event is a
celebration of Canadian gardening
heritage, featuring workshops by
members of the Kitchener Master
Gardeners Association and hands-
on demonstrations by members of
Doon’s gardening staff.
A community seed exchange
table will be set up where local
gardeners can swap their favourite
heirloom seeds with those brought
