Planning a show The Seaforth District High School All Girls Marching Band will be presenting two shows, one at the Brussels Public School on Feb. 16. The evening will also feature the local school band. Seaforth band plans shows Doon Crossroads hosts heritage Seedy Saturday Brighten a cold winter night with the sound of music. Two upcoming music nights featuring the Seaforth District High School All Girls Marching Band will be held during February. On Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m., the Holmesville Public School band will host a Music Night at the Goderich Twp. Hall in Holmesville. Admission is $2 at the Local writer, artist give talks Gallery Stratford presents Marianne Brandis, local writer, to give a reading from her new novel titled Singularity, and Cindy McMenemy, Waterloo artist, to give an artist’s talk about her exhibition currently on view titled Family Matters. The reading and talk will commence on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. at Gallery Stratford followed by a reception. Both women are interested in aspects of Schneider Haus set to open The 11th Folk Artist-in Residence at Joseph Schneider Haus is cross-stitch artist Ingrid Steiner of Waterloo. Steiner was introduced to cross- stitch, sewing, and knitting as a young schoolgirl in her native Holland. In Grade 1 she made her first sampler and cross-stitch has been a life-long hobby ever since. She loves to copy old samplers as well as to create commemorative samplers for family weddings and anniversaries. Entertainment will be provided by the Seaforth District High School All Girls Marching Band and the Holmesville Public School band. Snow date for this event is Feb. 9. Brussels Public School will host the second music night in Brussels at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Admission is $2 with proceeds ‘memory’ and ‘aging’ and many parallels are evident in their work. Singularity is one woman’s reflection on being single and alone, facing old age. Brandis is the author of five novels recreating Ontario history in the early 19th century: The Tinde rbox, The Quarter-Pie Window, The Sign of the Scales, Fire Ship, and Rebellion.. Many have won awards. Family Matters is an exhibition "Merkwaardig”, as an association of lovers of samplers and cross- stitch. During her year in residence Ingrid will share her knowledge and skill in a series of demonstrations, workshops, and a lecture. These events are intended to showcase the musical talents of youth in our community. of multimedia works by Cindy McMenemy which opened last Sunday in conjunction with Contemporary Canadian Drawing: Stephen Andrews. The exhibition runs through to Sunday, March 19. McMenemy received her Bachelor of fine Arts at the University of Waterloo in Ontario and has recently had a solo exhibition at the Burlington Arts Centre in Burlington and participated in a group show at the Grimsby Art Gallery in Grimsby, Ontario.
