Festival announces new season Family Matters exhibit opens at Gallery Stratford Country gentleman London-native Tommy Hunter will end his cross-Canada tour in Blyth, Feb. 23. Tommy Hunter comes to Blyth Canada’s Country Gentleman will visit Blyth Feb. 13, bringing memories of more than 50 years in the entertainment business. Blyth will be the last stop on his cross-country tour which began Jan. 7 in Vancouver and will hit more than 30 communities before completion. Directed by Blyth veteran Paul Thompson, the story takes the audience back to the threshing era and draws them into the play as the entire theatre is transformed into a barn setting. Hired Man runs from June 1-17. Anne, the story of the fabled red­ head from Prince Edward Island, will grace the stage for six weeks, beginning June 21. The Lucy Maude Montgomery classic will charm the whole family. Federal MP and playwright Wendy Lili takes aim at an uncar­ ing society in her sharp and surpris­ ingly funny Corker, the tale of an unusual legacy which disrupts the lives of an affluent couple. The play runs from June 28 to Aug. 5. A timeless Canadian classic for the entire family and a Blyth-com- missioned script, Drawer Boy, not only returns to the Festival where it premiered, but is also scheduled for production across the country, the United States and Australia. It is the story of two Huron County farmers who billet an actor researching The Farm Show and find their lives changed as the three interact. Drawer Boy plays from July 25 through Aug. 26. Renowned playwright Peter Col­ ley, author of I'll Be Back Before Midnight, returns to Blyth with a chilling true-life tale. Stolen Lives- The Albert Walker Story, retraces the steps of Albert Walker, a small town Ontario resident who went from singing in the local church choir to disappearing with his daughter and a great deal of his neighbours’ money then turning up five years later in England charged with murder. Stolen Lives runs from Aug. 1-19. To close out the 2000 season, Blyth Festival is bringing back one of the favourites from last year. Family Matters will open on Sunday, Jan. 16 at Gallery Stratford from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. The artist will be present. The exhibition runs to Sunday, March 19.
