(Vicky Bremnerphoto) Today’s Child Sweet tempered Jeffrey, who is of Dominican heritage, is an affectionate boy of five. He has a beautiful smile and a playful twinkle in his dark brown eyes. He is athletic, physically healthy and of average weight and height for his age. Jeffrey attends junior kindergarten where he is regarded as a well-behaved boy who enjoys playing with other children. One of Jeffrey’s favourite pastimes is riding his bike. He also enjoys playing a variety of sports and loves music and dancing. Jeffrey is happiest when following a familiar and predictable routine and like all of us functions best when he is feeling secure and knows what is expected of him. Although Jeffrey exhibits a slight delay in speech and language, he has shown noticeable improvement in these areas. Jeffrey needs a family who can be sensitive to his special learning and emotional needs and one that can provide him with lots of love, stability and reassurance. If you think your family might be the right one for Jeffrey, please fax a letter to Today’s Child at (416) 327-0573 or write to Today’s Child, Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services, Adoption Unit, 2 Bloor St. W., 24th floor, Toronto, Ontario, M4W 3E2. IN THE CLASSIFIEDS BUCK & DOE FOR MIKE BOVEN & SHIRLEY ANN BRIDGE ON Saturday, January 15 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Seaforth Community Centre Music by DJ For more info call Kelly at 523-9432 Richard Monette, artistic director of the Stratford Festival of Canada, announced Nov. 9 the inclusion of A Wilde Celebration, a series of plays, concerts, readings and lectures celebrating the life and work of Oscar Wilde, as part of the Festival’s 2000 season. “On the 100th anniversary of Oscar Wilde’s death, Stratford is celebrating the accomplishments of one of the most brilliant wits, insightful talents and controversial public figures in the English theatre,” Monette said. “Since we are presenting the original four-act version of The Importance of Being Earnest, which is a very different play from the three-act version commonly produced,” Monette said, “I felt it was an important artistic advantage for theatergoers to see this play in relationship to the larger body of work that Wilde wrote over a century ago. “This series will present an overview of Wilde’s entire career, from his beginnings as a poet and novelist to his triumph as the author of one of the most brilliant light comedies in the English language, to his later autobiographical reflections and comments on art,” he added. A Wilde Celebration will feature nine performances of a fully realized production of Oscar Remembered, a one-man play by Maxim Maxumdar in which Lord Alfred Douglas looks back over his life with Wilde. Oscar Remembered will be directed by William Hutt Another key presentation of A Wilde Celebration will be 29 performances of a semi-staged concert production of the seldom- performed Gilbert and Sullivan operetta Patience - which was written as a satire on the- “Aesthetic” movement that Wilde championed. Patience will be presented, with full ensemble and orchestra, at the Avon Theatre. The Importance of Being Earnest, directed by Monette and co-directed by Paul Leishman, will begin preview performances Saturday, May 13, 2000, open Saturday, June 3 and play in repertory through Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Avon Theatre. Patience, a concert production with full orchestra, will begin preview performances at the Avon Theatre Tuesday, July 11, 2000, open Friday, July 28 and play in repertory until Friday, Oct. 13. Tickets for the 2000 season will go on sale in November of 1999 to Members of the Stratford Festival and in January 2000 to the general public. i Stapps ffiiithday (bad (Jerry) on January 7 (Buck <£ for Brent (Scrimy) Scrimgeour & Janet Kerr Saturday, January 8,2000 Blyth Community Centre Tickets: $5.00 per person Age of Majority Required D J. - Soundproof Lunch Provided With love from Aislinn and Carlene ■ j SURROUND SOUND STEREO ]L LISTOWEL 291-3070 STARTS FRIDAY CINEMA 1 7:30 ONLY -THE GREEN z AA MHE « ■*TOM HANKS MOVIE CINEMA 2 7 PM . «MOVIE SUNDAY MATINEE 2 P.M.
