(Photo by Sarah caidweii) Biyth's first Pee Wee OMHA E Champions from the 1971-72 team were rehonoured for their contribution to the town’s minor hockey program when the Auburn Lions Club recently presented the hockey association with a professionally framed portrait of the team and its individual players. Since its win the team has only had an 8x10 black and white team photo on the wall, which was typical for the day, but recently championship teams have over taken the walls with larger, colour displays of their teams. Feeling that it was long-overdue for the 1971-1972 team to be honoured on the same scale, Doug Chamney brought the idea of mounting a display of the team to his Lions Club in Auburn. Chamney has been involved in Blyth Minor Hockey for several years “There was a large Auburn presence on the team, and we felt this was something our club could do,” he said, noting that four players and their coach. Bill Rodger all lived in the Auburn area. Hawks win 7-1 The Wingham PeeWee Girl Hawks played a very strong game against Clifford, Dec. 30, outscor ing the home team 7-1. The combination of Brittany Campbell and Laura Ritchie was hot in the first, hitting for three in the last seven minutes. Campbell had the hattrick with Ritchie earn ing two assists. The pair reversed the role in the second when Ritchie put the puck over the line at the 7:40 mark. Just Luckily, said Chamney the club was assisted by Steve Bromley who played on the team. He was able to provide the Lions Club with individual colour photos of every player sitting on the bench holding the trophies. 25 seconds later, Campbell got the puck from Victoria Whitfield for the goal. Rachel Elliott added one in the second, taking the pass from Nicole Stewart and Michelle Cook. At 9:33 of the third, Stewart got the puck to Cook who notched the team’s seventh. Allison Quenell had another strong game between the pipes, only losing her shutout with less than four minutes remaining.
