PAGE 27. Choir distributes In celebration of Christian Family Sunday, the members of the Melville Presbyterian junior choir spread out among the congregation and distributed long-stemmed carnations to all mothers before the beginning of the morning service. Later they also sang the anthems, My Lord What a Morning, and Pass it Along, as previously performed at Anthemfest, with Mary Douma accompanying them. The children’s story was a discussion leading from the flowers at the front of the church to funerals and to the relationships of families and how people are thankful for their families. Margaret Work shared her family tree with the children and showed them an heirloom watch. The flowers at the front of the church were in memory of Leila Johnston and Dorothy McCauley. Scripture reading of Acts 4: 11-12; 1 John 3: J6 - 24; and John 10: 7 - 18 was assisted by Bill King. The topic of Rev. Cathrine Campbell’s sermon was Voices. There are the louder voices heard every day and then there are inner voices that are heard in people’s minds. These are voices of mothers from childhood, and of loved ones no longer here us. From the proverbs there are voices of wisdom, and the words of the 23rd Psalm bring strength and comfort in affliction. Unfailingly people listen for the voice of Jesus and find it in commandment that they love another as He has loved them. Collection was taken up by King, Maurice Douma, Schimanski and Doug McArter. Organist Crystal McLellan His one Bill Frank roses baking 14 after athletic, accompanied the final hymn, Amazing Grace. Greeters at the door were Tom and Lynne Cronin and family.
