With the last of the spring snows
melted and flowers beginning to
bloom, children of Blyth and area
will have the opportunity to enjoy
the budding season while searching
for Easter eggs.
The Greenway Trail committee
and Blyth Business Association are
sponsoring the first-ever community
Easter egg hunt.
A bevy of brightly coloured orbs
will be hidden strategically along the
Greenway Trail, waiting for
discovery by eager little hands.
Greenway Trail committee
member Doug Scrimgeour said the
idea was picked up after hearing of it
in Florida. He thought it would be
fun for the children as well as a way
to make people more aware of the
several road signs on Front Road
and Victoria Boulevard in Vanastra
were pushed over requiring new
posts to be installed. Eight signs
mostly stop signs and some yield
signs were damaged.
Near Walton a residence had a
9-1-1- emergency sign removed.
The Town of Seaforth was also
affected when some person smashed
the front window of a business on
the Main Street during the night.
A resident on Jane Street in
Belgrave went outside after hearing
a noise to find that beer bottles had
been thrown at her house window
causing it to break. A dark coloured
vehicle was seen fleeing the scene at
2:30 a.m.
Huron OPP would appreciate any
help that the public could provide in
finding the people responsible.
Please call the OPP or Crime
Stoppers with any information.

After searching for a supplier of
the plastic, treat-filled eggs,
Scrimgeour said he contacted the
Georgia company that had been used
by the American hunt organizers.
It was the first order ever received
from Canada, so with a little help
from Huron-Bruce MP Paul Steckle
in securing a duty-free code, the eggs
were shipped north.

said Scrimgeour.
Gatherers are asked to meet at the
Greenway Trail gazebo at 2 p.m. on
Saturday, April 19. The first activity
of the afternoon will be a basket
decorating contest. The hunt will
commence immediately following
Bannerman and the drama club told
of Passover in a classroom setting.
One of the students asked how Jesus
celebrated the Passover. Rev.
Bannerman explained to them that
He celebrated with His disciples at
the last supper, the same way
Christians celebrate Easter.
Rev. Bannerman gathered the
palm branches up and explained to
the children that it was the custom to
save the branches and let them dry
then next year on Ash Wednesday
bum them, hence the name of Ash
Wednesday.
The Responsive reading was
Psalm 118. The gospel reading was
from Mark 14: 1, 2, 12-26.
Karen Giousher told of the Krispy
Kreme doughnuts fundraiser project
