Obituaries DELMER VERDUN (TIM) DILWORTH Tim Dilworth of Brussels, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away at Victoria Hospital, Westminster Campus, London on Thursday, April 3, 2003, surrounded by his family. Born in Stettler, Alberta, Tim was in his ^8th year. He was the beloved father of Roger Dilworth and his wife Mary of Brussels and Karen Bowles and her husband Dave of RR3, Brussels. He was the dear brother of Dorothy Hyndman of Wingham. He was also loved by his grandchildren Krissy, Lee, Gerald, Stacey and Paula. Tim was predeceased by his par­ ents Russell and Pearl, brother Glenn and her sister Aileen Mann. Friends were received by the fam­ ily one hour prior to the funeral serv­ ice being conducted at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels on Monday, April 7 at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Russell offi­ ciating. Spring burial is at Brussels Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the London Regional Cancer Centre or to the charity of one’s choice. Mr. Dilworth was a 50-year mem­ ber of St. John’s Lodge No. 284 A.F. and A.M. OWEN THOMAS JEFFERY ZEHR Owen Thomas Jeffery Zehr, passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, London on March 21, 2003 the day he was bom. He was the beloved son of Jeff and Ellen Zehr of RR3, Brussels and dear brother of Rachel. He was the dear grandson of Elaine Workman and Joe and Sandy Zehr and dear great-grandson of Jean Robinson, Rosemary Fishback and her friend Tony, and Merv and Frieda Zehr. Owen was also loved by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his great­ -grandparents Mason Robinson and Fred Fishback. A private graveside service will be conducted at Brussels Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the NICU of St. Joseph’s Health Centre or to Brussels United Church. Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels, was entrusted with the arrangements. Morris-Turnberry council briefs Auditor brings good news Morris-Turnberry councillors received good news, April 1 when the 2002 financial statements were presented. Bill Vodden said the municipality had achieved a surplus of $40,140 and was in an excellent financial position. The administrative staff was com­ mended for the well organized and excellent record keeping. *** The education tax rate was dropped from .00373 per cent to .00335 per cent. *** Councillors discussed a rezoning for part Lot 7 and 7, Cone. 1, Morris at Bridge Motors during the public meeting portion of the session. The rezoning would change the land from village commercial-highway to village commercial-highway-special provisions to allow the establish­ ment of a communication tower. The tower would be for a wireless com­ munication link and high speed internet. The subject area is approx­ imately 3.8 acres. Comments from the county plan­ ning department and North Huron council were read and Morris- ^urnberry councillors asked if a light would be needed on the tower. A bylaw was passed permitting the rezoning pending the 20-day appeal period. *** A delegation of Belgrave water trustees attending the meeting to review the profile of the American Water Company and the terms of a contract for operation of the wells. A public meeting was scheduled for May 6 to discuss an amendment to the water user fee. Andy McBride was authorized to sign the Belgrave wells 2002 com­ pliance report. He will present the report within three months. *** Support was given to resolutions from the Township of Smith- Ennismore-Lakefield regarding safe drinking water; MPP Sandra Pupatello on the West Nile virus; and the City of Woodstock about the new property tax regime. *** Council supported the business case compliance report to conform to the 2000 Restructuring Grant agreement under the Ontario Municipal Support Grants Act. *** Council approved a donation to the Belgrave, Blyth, Brussels school fair. The amount will be half the interest generated from the GIC for the purpose. *** A further meeting with South Bruce will be arranged in June to discuss insurance for the Belmore Community Centre. *** Authorization was given to pre­ pare a bylaw for the North Huron recreation agreement which will result in a pro-rated share of nine per cent rather than 12 per cent. *** Jeff Dickson was appointed acting drainage superintendent. *** Pai da Landscaping was hired to sweep the sidewalks of Bluevale and Belgrave before the streets are swept. *** There were no objections to the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s lot­ tery. *** General and recreation accounts in the amounts of $559,195.67 and $1,000 respectively were approved. The Belgrave park account totalling $95.63 was also paid. The public works account totalled $72,307.75. Beat the temptation.
