Eugen Bannerman Blyth United Church It was an unbelievable rescue. A man pulled from the very edge of Horseshoe Falls two weeks ago. For two hours, an unidentified man stood on a rock less than five feet from the brink of Niagara Falls, as the glacially-cold waters swirled around his feet. It baffles the mind how he could have survived without being pulled over the edge by the force of the water. A helicopter was unable to drop a rescue basket or rescue ring to him. Help finally came from police officers and firefighters who bound themselves with safety ropes to people on the shore, and waded into the water. They let out a rescue ring to the man. He put his arm through the ring, and was hauled to shore by more than two dozen police officers and firefighters. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and psychiatric evaluation. “The guy must have had an angel on his shoulder,” said the fire chief. “It is nothing short of a miracle that he made it.” “God was with that man. He has to be the luckiest man in the world to be alive-no matter what his problems are.” It was like no other rescue in the Niagara Falls region. “It was the UCW meets damnedest thing I’ve ever seen. In my 16 years as a firefighter and 18 in the military, I’ve never seen a more fantastic rescue,” said the fire chief. The Buffalo area man had apparently “slipped” into the Niagara River on the American side of Horseshoe Falls. Was there an angel guiding his feet through the waters to the solid rock at the edge of the Falls? Why not? No one else can relate such a story of rescue. t St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church 254 Drummond St. E., Blyth Sunday Mass 9:00 a.m. Father Lance Magdziak, Pastor 519-527-0142 email: stjames@rcec.london.on.ca ?HURON CHAPEL EVANGELICAL^ MISSIONARY CHURCH Cfw'fT Auburn - 526-1131 1 PASTOR DAVE WOOD - 523-4941 Sunday Wednesday 9:30 a.m. - Family Bible Hour 10:30 a.m. - Morning Worship Service 7:30 p.m. - Evening Worship 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.- Crusaders & Youth 7:15 p.m. - Adult Bible Study fat Sunday, April 13 BRUSSELS - ETHEL PASTORAL CHARGE UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA Joan Golden - Diaconal Student Minister Church Office 887-6259 E-mail - bepc@wcl.on.ca April 13 Ethel United Church 9:30 a.m. Worship Service & Sunday School Brussels United Church 11:00 a.m. Worship Service & Sunday School Come and join us as we journey in the Season of Lent THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF CANADA "Wetcacmd cydcc la eewce cutd UMVtddcft wftd Sunday, April 13 PALM/PASSION SUNDAY HOLY EUCHARIST WITH LITURGY OF THE PALMS (Free Palm cross for all) Trinity, Blyth St. John's, Brussels 9:30 a.m._________11:15 a.m. The Rev. She then gave a character study of Mary, the mother of Jesus from her early childhood, marriage, birth and the death of her eldest son Jesus to her later involvement with Jesus’ followers.
