The Georgian Bay Chinchilla Club combined with the Western Ontario Chinchilla Branch held their annual Claiming Show. There were four experienced chinchilla ranchers on hand with 24 chinchillas in the competition. The animals are groomed and judged and can be claimed by others with a minimum claiming price of $100. Members of the Huron County 4- H Chinchilla Club were on hand to see what is involved in showing an animal,, how they are combed and prepared and what is needed in preparation of the show. They observed the judging and later when they had their 4-H meeting the finer points of judging were explained. The 4-H members and parents provided a potluck lunch for those attending, then watched while the prizes and ribbons were awarded. They are preparing for their own show and auction to be held in early May. The choir sang the Ten Commandments. Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky called the children to the front. She had a dry erase board and asked the children how can they hurt someone? She wrote their answers on the board - being mean, swearing, lying or gossiping. She asked how they feel after they have hurt someone and they answered sad, bad and sorry. She explained people forgive us when we’re mean. Rev. Joan wiped the erase board clean like God wipes our slate clean and we can start fresh with God’s forgiveness. Scripture reader was Teresa Baan. Rev. Joan’s reflection was on how well do we know one another and God. What is our relationship with God and how can we move toward God in this Lenten season.
