This year’s recipient of the Jeremy Austin Memorial Trophy
was Blyth Bantam Kyle Nixon, right. The award is given to
the player who is consistent in their play and is
enthusiastic. Nixon also spearheaded many plays and was

Atoms win WOAA title
Top curlers
The Steve Steiss rink earned top honours at the Brussels
The Blyth Bulldog Atom Rep team
were the recipients of the Dave
Neilson “Group” WOAA Atom
division trophy this year.
The team members include Dallas
Pennington, Trevor Raynard,
Michael McDowell, Colin Bokhout,
Collin Whitfield, Matt Popp, Tyler
Middegaal, Kirby Cook, Tolson
Carter, Tyler Black, Adam Cronin,
Lucas Cooke, Grant Sparling and
Sheldon Reid.
' The coaching staff is Chad
Haggitt, Mike Haggitt and Kirk
Stewart.
The team travelled to Elmvale this
past Friday to take part in a weekend
tournament. The Bulldogs faced off
against teams from Penetang,
Oakridge and Ayr.
Although these teams were from
much larger centres and the boys lost
three games, the scores were very
respectable with a 4-0, 3-1 and 4-1
tally. The coaches and parents were
proud of the determination shown on
the ice.

In 2004 the curlers celebrate 40
years of curling. The committee to
plan for it is Brenda McIntosh,
Susan Alexander, Murray Pepper,
Ernie Lewington, Bob Alexander,
Merv Bauer and Jo-Ann McDonald.
Euchre was enjoyed.
Winners were: men’s high, Bill
Bremner; low, Orville Bauer; ladies’
high, Cathy Cardiff; low, Sandra
Pepper.
Tykes WOAA champs
March 28 and 29 Blyth Minor
Sports hosted the year-end Tyke
tournament.
The Blyth Tykes competed against
seven teams throughout the season
and earned a fourth-place standing.
In the year-end tournament the
team faced Zurich Friday night and
gained a 4-2 win. Saturday morning
the Bulldogs came up against
Seaforth, the top team in the league
and lost 4-0.
Their next game was against
Bayfield and they came out on top
with a 3-2 win.
After only a one-hour break to the
final game, the Dogs faced Zurich
again; and showing no mercy won 7-
0, which earned the team WOAA B
champions.

MacDonald urges anyone who is going to donate to the Heart and Soul Campaign please do
so. We are still $75,000. short of our goal. Let's finish the job we all started.
