Brussels Livestock report
1,000 lambs on offer, light weights reach $195
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending March
28 were 2,451 head of cattle, 1,000
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold $1 to $2 higher while the
cows traded on a steady market. On
Thursday the veal traded on a steady
market with the lambs selling on a
good active trade with prices steady
to last week. On Friday all weights
and classes of Stockers sold on a
strong active trade.
There were 469 steers on offer
selling from $102 to $110 with sales
to $120.50. James Frey, Chesley,
consigned one limousin steer
weighing 1,425 lbs. which sold to
Norwich Packers for $120.50. His
overall offering of thirteen steers
averaged 1,535 lbs. selling for an
average of $106.96. One limousin
steer consigned by Schmidt Brook
Farms. Woodstock, weighed 1.420
lbs. selling to Holly Park Meat
Packers for $116.50. Their overall
offering of nine steers averaged 1.601
lbs. which sold for an average price of
$103.56.
Gordon Brooks. Lucknow,
consigned three steers averaging
1,408 lbs. selling for an average of
$108.80 with his top black steer
weighing 1,380 lbs. selling to Moyer
Packing Co. for $112. One red steer
consigned by B & T Farms, Ailsa
Craig, weighed 1,510 lbs. selling to
Dominion Meats for $113.75. Their
overall offering of eight steers
averaged 1,407 lbs. selling for an
average price of $107.74. Donald
Fischer. Brussels, consigned three
steers averaging 1,432 lbs. which sold
for an average of $107.49 with his top
limousin steer weighing 1,305 lbs.

lbs. selling for an average price of
$107.11 with one limousin steer
weighing 1.535 lbs. selling to
Dominion Meats for $ 113.50. Murray
Shiell, Wingbam. consigned sixteen
black steers which averaged 1,437
lbs. selling for an average of $106.86
with sales to $111.50. Six steers
consigned by Don Culbert,
Dungannon, averaged 1,501 lbs.
selling for an average of $ 106.57 with
his top two red steers averaging 1,435
lbs. selling to Moyer Packing Co. for
$111.50.
Terry McCarthy, Dublin, consigned
five black steers averaging 1,335 lbs.
which were purchased by Moyer
Packing Co. for $112. His overall
offering of eighteen steers averaged
1.470 lbs. selling for an average price
of $106.40. Ten steers consigned by
Leroy Gould. Exeter, averaged 1,535
lbs. selling for an average price of
$104.83 with his top two limousin
4-Hers meet

On Monday, March 17, the 4-H
Machinery Club held its fifth
meeting at Huron Tire in Clinton.
The leader told about the different
types of machinery tires and
answered questions about them.
Following this, he took them out to
the shop and showed them a buggy
bin tire. Members then went and
looked at many different tractor and
large truck tires and asked questions.
The next meeting will be held at
Hyde Brothers in Hensall on
Tuesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m.

weighing 1,315 lbs. selling to
Dominion Meats for $115. Doris
Jacklin, Bluevale, consigned one
black heifer weighing 1,325 lbs.
which sold for $ 111.25. Two limousin
heifers consigned by Clarence
Likens, Clinton, averaged 1,283 lbs.
selling to Norwich Packers for
$114.25. His overall offering of nine
heifers averaged 1,335 lbs. selling for
an average of $ 110.90.
Fourteen heifers consigned by Tom
Ellerington, Centralia, averaged
1,261 lbs. selling for an average of
$110.80 with his top red heifer
weighing 1,170 lbs. selling for $114.
Sellers Farms, Bluevale, consigned
one limousin heifer weighing 1,270
lbs. which sold to Holly Park Meat
Packers for $114.25. Their overall
offering often heifers averaged 1,219
lbs. selling for an average of $110.17.
Ten heifers consigned by W. R.
Gardiner Farms Inc., Staffa, averaged
1,277 lbs. selling for an average price
of $109.37 with his top limousin
heifer weighing 1,325 lbs. being
purchased by Dominion Meats for
$113. Merkley Farms, Wroxeter,
consigned six limousin heifers
averaging 1,116 lbs. selling for an
average of $108.89 with sales up to
$111.25. James Weber, Mount Forest,
consigned one gold heifer weighing
1,250 lbs. which sold to Aylmer Meat
Packers for $111.50. His overall
offering of seven heifers averaged
1,386 lbs. selling for an average of
$108.85. Ross Tufts, Kirkton,
consigned two charolais heifers
averaging 1,335 lbs. which sold for
$111.75. His overall offering of six
heifers averaged 1,319 lbs. selling for
an average of $ 105.31.
There were 308 cows on offer. DI
and D2 cows sold $53 to $63 with
sales to $79; D3, $49 to $53; D4, $40
to $49. Ronald Kraemer, Walkerton,
consigned one limousin cow
weighing 1,245 lbs. which sold for
$79. One black wf cow consigned by
Bruce Hicks, Centralia, weighed
1,045 lbs. selling for $72. Harvey
Gibson, Gorrie, consigned one
holstein cow weighing 1,660 lbs.
which sold to Moyer Packing Co. for
$71.50.
There were 16 bulls on offer selling
from $57.50 to $78.50 with sales to
$87.50. George Weber, Wroxeter,
consigned one simmental bull
weighing 1,665 lbs. which sold to
Dominion Meats for $87.50. One
blonde bull consigned by Clare and
Cathy Kuepfer, Dobbinton, weighed
2,140 lbs. selling to Den view Meats
for $78.50.
There were 136 head of veal on
offer. Holstein sold $80 to $85 with
sales to $96; Plain Holstein, $60 to
$70. Peter Feagan, Goderich,
consigned one black veal steer
weighing 585 lbs. which sold to
Millgrove Meat Packers for $107 and
one holstein veal steer weighing 615
lbs. which sold to Millgrove Meat
Packers for $96. One charolais veal
steer consigned by Mark and Paul
Pennington, Mildmay, weighed 720
lbs. selling for $102. John Martin,
Lucknow, consigned one holstein
veal steer weighing 725 lbs. which
sold to Newmarket Meats for $89.

$195; 50 - 64 lbs. $145 to $180; 65 -
79 lbs., $149 to $163; 80 - 94 lbs.,
$145 to $159; 95 - 109 lbs., $129 to

Sheep sold $30 to $65.
Stocker steers, under 400 lbs., sold
$110 to $142; 400 - 499 lbs., $110 to
