FROM WALTON
Water
safety
topic
at WLS
The Walton Little School senior
pre-school Acorn class, Great Oaks
from Little Acorns Grow had a busy
week.
On Wednesday, Esther Buck of the
Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority talked to them about river
safety. She had them put their hands
in icy cold water and told them to
stay away from rivers and streams to
stay safe.
The rest of the week, they were
kept busy creating goodies for their
bake sale held for their families at
the end of the Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday school days. They are
raising money to buy some new
books for their Acorn room. They
had a good time and lots of fun.
The junior pre-school stars class
were also busy. Ms Buck also spoke
to them about river safety. They
learned it is not a safe place to be by
themselves.
They are talking about the letter T.
They are also learning about space,
making flying saucers, and writing
in their journals about the different
planets and the sun and moon. They
are really enjoying the space theme.
The toddler butterflies have had a
busy month learning about colours
and shapes. Some of their favourite
activities included playing in
coloured rice, making their own
shape books, mixing and creating
colours and playing many colour and
shape-matching games.
Two books they have enjoyed are
What Makes a Rainbow by Betty
Ann Schwartz and Brown Rabbitt’s
Shape Book by Alan Baker.

He called the children forward and
asked them how they contact
someone. Answers included e-mail,

scripture messages and individual
beliefs people pass on God’s
message.
He had the children turn and shout
to the congregation, “Smile, God
loves you.”
Scripture reader was Jennifer
McClure.
Rev. Gandon’s message was on
