The next shoot is Friday, April 11 at 1:30 p.m. Presbytery honours EWPS gets grant East Wawanosh school has been approved for a $ 1,000 grant from the Toyota Evergreen Foundation to enhance the schoolgrounds. These funds will purchase more trees to provide shade and beautify the new outdoor pavilion that the school council will be building in the spring. Special thanks to Sue Richmond for her work in applying for this grant. Grade 1 and 2 students are playing side-line soccer and the Grades 3 to 6 students are enjoying floor hockey. Dale Edgar and the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority provided maple seedlings for students in Grades 1, 2, 3 and 4/5. On Thursday, Feb. 27 Dale Edgar came to the school and assisted the students in planting these maple seedlings. Students will be able to take these seedlings home to plant on their property and some will be planted on our schoolyard. Robbie Marriott and Janisa Cloakey both placed first at the regional competition held at St. Anne’s Secondary School in Clinton on Saturday, Feb. 22. They both went on to the next level of competition in London on March 7. Congratulations to Robbie who placed second his division and to Janisa who placed first in her division. Montina Hussey had placed first in her category at the public speaking competition held at the Wingham Legion, then went on to the next level of competition Saturday, March 22 in Meaford. She placed second. Roberts The Rev. Jchn Roberts recently honoured by Huron Perth Presbytery on the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the church’s ministry. Also honoured was the Rev. George Ball, who was celebrating his 60th anniversary since ordination. Following suitable responses by the celebrands each was presented with a gift by Margaret Hem, chair of Presbytery. All of the jubilants of London Conference are also scheduled to be honoured in Sault Ste. Marie when the conference convenes there in May. Sincere sympathy is extended to Jim and Irene Lamont, Dale and Colleen Lamont, Dwight Lamont and Donelda Cottrill, Mike, Shawn, Chris and Matthew in the loss of a dear mother, grandmother and great­ grandmother, Winnie Vincent of Seaforth Manor who passed away on Thursday, March 27 in her 101st year. Winnie celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, March 8 at the Seaforth Manor.
