Feelings of loss and grief and unbelief are at the front of many thoughts. Tragedy, war and death hold the power. As we try to process the happenings of the past week we take in what we can and we put the rest away for another time. Each of us deals with life issues at our own time and speedfand in respect for each other silence is often the best communication. Gestures in the form of notes, food, flowers and hugs seem like poor substitutes for the deep feelings we are trying to convey. And so the silence prevails. But this week and in the weeks to come we need to celebrate the silence. Hear the silence as a sign of thought and healing as each one of us tries to cope with life. Doris and the Fischer kids are on our minds this week as their family circle is broken with the death of Ken. Skylar. Lisa, Grace. Wayne, their families, as well as John’s friends and neighbours are kept in our love and prayers as the reality of the loss of John in their lives becomes the awful reality that it is - John Lowe is dead. All we leave in this life when we die is memories. Be sure to share yours of Ken and John with the ones who loved them for they need to hear from you. The war is evident in every paper and news program that we see and the effects on all those involved are grief loaded. Sometimes communication systems are not out there for the good of the masses. Pray for peace. I’m really glad we’re in the season of Lent. The tim'e is to be used to contemplate the cycle of life - the darkness then the light. So as our life goes on - give a lot of careful thought to your offering to the world. Attitude, opinions, demeanor - these are your life advertisements. Please be kind to the world and sprinkle it with smiles, caring and good deeds. No gossip, only true concern that aids in the sense of community. Use Lent for its real purpose - to know and love yourself and get prepared for the season of Easter. For only in our silence and reflection can we be ready for the joy that Easter promises forever.
