Wingham OES
embarks on
another project
Last Fall, Huron Chapter No. 89
Order of the Eastern Star, started the
Warm heads, hands and feet project
which resulted in over 250 sets of
hats, mittens, socks and slippers
being donated to the Sab ation Army
in time for distribution at Christmas.
Their spring project is called
Comfy Covers. Members and
friends, some as far away as Florida,
are knitting squares, which are then
assembled into afghans and
lapghans. These will be donated to
various seniors and children’s
organization in the Wingham and
Lucknow area later this year.
Members of the Order of the
Eastern Star are all related to the
Masonic Order. Huron Chapter,
which was established in Wingham
in 1921, meets on the second
Tuesday, 10 months of the year. The
current Worthy Matron is Doreen
Tyrrell and the Worthy Patron is
Denis Langridge.
The chapter’s major project for
2003 is to make a substantial
donation later this year, to the
Wingham and District Hospital
cancer care facility.
People interested in learning more
of this worthwhile social and
