Local PeeWees win 6, lose 2
Despite a solid showing with six
wins and only two losses in round
robin playoffs, the Brussels PeeWee
Local League squad won’t advance.
Ironically the final game, which they
won was against Wingham, the team
that will move on as it has seven
victories.
Brussels took the lead early in this
away contest when Westin McLeod
set up Jason Bowman in the final
two minutes of the first period.
Going into the second two quick
Brussels goals put the team up by
three, before Wingham finally found
the net. This seemed to inspire the
team however, which quickly added
another to bring them within one. It
was back and forth for the rest of the
period with the score sitting at 5-4 in
Brussels’ favour when the buzzer
sounded.
Second period scorers for the
visitors were Taylor Prior, Bowman,
James Dillon and Westih-McLeod.
Assists went to Bowman, McLeod
with two, Brian Burgess, Ryan Jutzi,
Joel Wilkinson and Danny Dwyer.
The third period was all Brussels
as they shut down the home squad
while adding to more to their lead.
Tom Cronin scored both goals with
assists from Zachary Hoegy with
two, Thomas Johnston and Prior.
