Hackwells greet at Duffs United Church
The smiling faces of Howard and
Audrey Hackwell greeted those
attending Duff’s United Church in
Walton. The choir sang the anthem
Dust and Ashes Touch Our Face.
When the children joined Rev.
Joan at the front of the church she
showed them a card with a signature
on it. Her message was on how

They toured the USS Missouri

They enjoyed snorkelling around

They were also lucky enough to
be there during the hump back whale

sunny days. Jeff reports, smiling - it

Saturday started with a loss to

Obviously the girls played very

They are drawing pictures of their

theme
Members of the Walton UCW met
on Wednesday evening in the
basement decorated for St. Patrick’s
Day. There were 13 ladies present to
enjoy the theme of spring.
Committee members were Audrey
Hackwell, Dianne van Vliet, Judy
Emmrich and Vai Pethick.
The opening selects were read by
Judy and the scriptures by Audrey.
Dianne led in prayer. A poem
Tapestry of Spring followed. The
topic was discussed in three sections
including signs of spring.
A contest, called the spring flower
scramble, led by Judy, was enjoyed
by all.
There was a reminder to hand in
grocery tapes as soon as possible. A
light lunch of sandwiches was
enjoyed at the end of the evening.
food all day.
The junior pre-schools have
picked a name for their room, The
Stars. It came from “if you shoot for
the moon, you will land among the
stars”. They are talking about the
colours of the rainbow, shapes and
numbers. They did shaving cream
art and made their own shape books.
The children are really enjoying
the huge snow hill in the
playground.
