By Jo-Ann McDonald
The Huron County Beef Producers
held their annual meeting at the
Brussels Legion on Wednesday, Jan.

because of the important issues on
the agenda, there was a full house.
The Ladies’ Auxiliary catered a
roast beef dinner to the over 90
farmers in attendance.
The Thursday night darts had 10
players. The first place team was
Lawrence Machan and Sandra
Josling and the second place team
was Ken Miller and Bill Kamerman.

called to a residence on William

2002 dues and remain a member in
good standing.
The next sports event is Zone
euchre in Howick on Saturday.
Public speaking will be held near
the end of February. Encourage your
children and grandchildren to get
involved. Winning at Branch level
advances them to Zone, then
possibly District and Provincial.
There have been some
wonderfully talented speakers from
our area. We hope your children can
be one of them.
Anyone wishing an appointment
with the provincial service officer
must contact Mabel Glanville to
make an appointment.
The next general meeting is Jan.
28 at 8 p.m.
Representatives from the
Wingham and District Hospital
physician recruitment committee
met with Morris-Turnberry council
Jan. 7 to discuss support for the
program.
Margrit Cormack and Verna
Steffler presented a video regarding
recruitment and asked council to
consider sharing in the $30,000 to
$35,000 cost.
Morris-Turnberry’s share of
hospital usage is 17.8 per cent for
in-patient and nine per cent for
emergency usage.
The cost to the municipality to
contribute 17.8 per cent of $35,000
would be $6,230.
Consideration of the request will
be given during budget talks.
In other hospital matters, Huron
East had agreed to pay one-third of
the hospital board representatives’
per diems.
Council had no objections to a
consent application from Glen

moved behind the house and a
privacy fence installed within the

Krotz has resigned from the
Brussels, Morris and Grey

East recommended that Morris-
Turnberry have two representatives
on the board rather than three.
