The Christmas week started on a note of sadness with the funeral of Bill Coutts. The funeral service was conducted from Schimanski Family Funeral Home. Condolences to the Coutts family. Our condolences, as well, to the Flood family on the passing of Eva Flood. Her funeral was also Monday in Lucknow. On Saturday, the VanBeek family gathered at the Walton Hall for their family Christmas. The Walton Hall board served them a delicious turkey dinner and they enjoyed the rest of their evening and Christmas gift exchange. On Sunday, the TenPas family cel­ ebrated their Christmas at the Walton Hall. The Webster family Christmas was celebrated at Nancy Holmes’s. The Huether families all attended. Fred and Heidi McClure hosted the McClure family’s Christmas on Dec. 22. Gerry and Anne Ryan had their family home for Christmas also on Sunday, Dec. 22. Clint and Judy Emmrich had a busy weekend as they celebrated’ both Saturday and Sunday with the Emmrich family and with the Thamer family. The immediate family of Pearl McCallum gathered at the home of Ron and Betty McCallum to cele­ brate Pearl’s birthday the weekend before Christmas. Celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary on this busy weekend were Keith and Janet Bachert. The family arranged for singing telegrams. The first to arrive was Graeme Craig. He sang All Shook Up. Next was messenger Gloria Wil bee who sang Evergreen as well as composing new words for The Anniversary Waltz. Congratulations to the Bachert’s. Celebrating another kind of fami­ ly event was the Godkin family. Daughter Nancy and husband Rick Schmeltzer from Florida were home to have son Jacob Tyler baptized at Duff’s United Church, Walton on Sunday, Dec. 22, Lave.n and Marion had the majority of their family at church and home for brunch follow­ ing the church service. The Schmeltzer family returned to Florida before Christmas as work commitments called. Rick and Jo-Ann McDonald and family hosted Leona McDonald for lunch before travelling to Mitchell for the Clarke family Christmas. Celebrating Christmas on Monday, Dec. 23 were John and Mary Baan and family, Dan and Steve and Heather and their fami­ lies. Jim and Linda McDonald had Doug and Florence Machan, Marilyn McDonald and Rob and Jeanne, Dianne and family for brunch on Christmas morning. Lavern and Marion Godkin had most of their family home for Christmas day, with the exception of Nancy and husband who had returned to Florida. Howard and Audrey Hackwell had Dean and his wife, Kelly and Patricia, Eddy and Sebastian join them for Christmas dinner. Darryl and Glenda Morrison and Amanda hosted mom Elsie and sis­ ter Susan, her husband Mike and Brent for a house warming Christmas on Christmas Day. Murray and Olene Dennis had a houseful with their family, Steve, Peggy and John and girls, Laura and boys and Elaine and family all home to celebrate Christmas. Arriving home from Greenville, North Carolina was Sherry Hoegy. Barry and Karen had all the family including Darrell and Ruthann and family and Ben and Sherry for Christmas dinner. Neil and Marie McGavin had a houseful Christmas day with Brian and Shelley and family, Cathy and Pat and family, Jeff and Shannon and family and Heather and Brian and family all home. Brian Black and Joan Tuchlinsky and family travelled to Kitchener to celebrate Christmas with the Black family. Doug and Marjory Fraser were picked up on Christmas Eve and taken to Phil and Dianne Blake’s in Kitchener. Joining them were the rest of the Fraser children including Clayton and family, Carolyn and family and Cheryl and family, for Christmas Day together. Mary Humphries was picked up by daughter Kim on Christmas Day and taken to her home in Bayfield to spend Christmas. The rest of the Humphries family Bob and Nora and family and Wenda and family gathered at Kim and George’s to cel­ ebrate Christmas on Dec. 28. Bill and Marjorie Humphries cele­ brated on Christmas day with all their children, Susan, Roger, Paul, Greg and Peggy and their families. Emerson and Phyllis Mitchell had their family join them Christmas Day, Gord and Julia, Ross and Julie, Doug and Janet, Neil and Marie and their families. The McCallum families had Christmas dinner at Harold and Pearl’s home. Children Marion, Paui, Ron, Joyce, and Carl and their families enjoyed the joy of family. Boxing Day, Marilyn McDonald’s family, Bruce, Heather and Ron, Cathy and Paul, Pat, Jim and Linda, Jeanne and Rob and their families created a noisy but wonderful spirit in her home. Cathy and Paul also stayed on for an extra day or so foj visiting. Paul and Dianne McCallum were the host family for the Willis family Christmas. Mother Mabel and sisters Sharon and husband Kelly and Donna and Stan and their families gathered for a fun day together. Joan Tuchlinsky and Brian Black were the hosts for the Tuchlinsky Christmas on Boxing Day. Joan’s mother, and sister and family were on hand for the celebration. Celebrating his birthday a little early was Jeff Black. On Friday evening, Dec. 27, Jeff and five of his friends were treated to a Kitchener Rangers game. Dec. 28 brought the news of the birth of a new daughter for Chris and Cindy Poland. Alaina Marie arrived in a hurry to bring added joy to this Christmas season. Celebrating Christmas on this day were Graeme and Helen Craig and family who travelled to Kitchener to Bob and. Sharon Elliott’s for the Elliott Christmas. Barry and Karen Hoegy and fami­ ly travelled to Huron Haven Hall outside of Goderich to celebrate the Brindley Christmas. Gary and Kelly McNichol’s fami­ ly gathered at Jason and Lorianne Horan’s to celebrate the McNichol family Christmas. Carmen and Mary Bernard hosted the Watson Christmas for Gerald Watson, Anne and Sal and girls and Sandra and George and Jamie Sanderson. Travelling to Stayner to celebrate the Vanostaayen Christmas were Don and Monique Baan and family. They visited for a few days. Keith and Janet Bachert had their family gather at (he Walton Hall on Saturday. Attending were Phillip and Sherri McKinley and their four chil­ dren from Waterloo; Dave and Sheila Ganoe and three girls from Fort Ashby, West Virginia; Mike and Shelley Bachert, Cumberland, Maryland; Brent and Shirlee Groothuis, Chicago; Mark Bachert and girlfriend Brenda Smith, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Marvin and Wendy Bachert and five chil­ dren, Walton. Quite a houseful for a Christmas celebration. They gathered for Boxing Day at the Sheridan Hotel, Kitchener and stayed the night and enjoyed the amenities offered at the hotel before travelling to Walton. Marvin and Wendy and family travelled to Nottawasaga to celebrate Wendy’s family Christmas after New Year’s. Dec. 28 was also the celebration of marriage for Rob Mason and Karen Bernard. They were married in Blyth and now reside at RR3, Walton. Congratulations to the new­ lyweds. A wonderful pre-Christmas pres­ ent was enjoyed by Rod Fritz and Helen Brenie. They had the opportu­ nity to see Rita McNeil and the Men of the Deep at the Centre in The Square. Neil and Marie Mitchell wel­ comed Claire Lillian to their family of Sean, Emily and Sarah. Claire is the New Year’s baby of Stratford and Seaforth Hospitals. Congratulations to the Mitchells. The rest of the Mitchell family, Emerson and Phyllis and families gathered at Gordon and Julie Mitchell’s to celebrate New Year’s with Emerson’s nephews Dave and Dianne Beer of Mississauga and Steve Beer of London. The birth of Claire just gave extra reason to cel­ ebrate.
