EVA MAE I. FLOOD
Eva Mae I Flood (Bishop) of RRI.
Dungannon, formerly of Walton,
passed away Dec. 20, 2002, at St.
Joseph's Hospital. London. She was
73.
Born in Grey Twp. on Sept. 8,
1929, to William and Verna
(Johnston) Bishop, Mrs. Flood is
survived by her husband Clarence
Flood.
She was the dear mother of Mary
Bishop of Kitchener, Margaret and
David Mclvor of Fisherbrand, MB,
Maurice and- Millie Flood of
Wetackiwin, AB, Janet and Gary
Caesar of Dungannon, Verna and
Bryce Ritchie of RR3, Lucknow and
Calvin and Dianne Flood of Walton,
loved grandmother of 11 and great
grandmother of seven.
She will be remembered by sisters
and brother, Helen and Bill Potter of
Frankford, Agnes Diehl of Monkton,
Winnifred Bishop of Listowel,
Clarence and Rosemarie Bishop of
Ethel and Ethel and Ross Flood of
Mitchell.
Mrs. Flood was predeceased by
one brother, Jack Bishop and two
grandchildren, Brett Ritchie and
John Flood.
The funeral service was held at St.
Peter's Anglican Church. Lucknow,
Monday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m., with
arrangements entrusted to
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home.
Rev. L Myers officiated and Mary
Lou Raynard was the organist.
Flowerbearers were Theresa
Flood, Lisa Caesar, Marlene
Johnston, Michelle Irvin and Dianne
Flood.
Pallbearers were David Collins,
Jason Caesar, Stewart Caesar, Josh
Fraser, Calvin Flood and Roy
Bongertman.
A spring interment will take place
at Dungannon Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy,
donations to St. Peter’s Anglican
Church, Lucknow or Sick Children’s
Hospital in London would be
appreciated.
JOHN KNOX
Mr. John Knox of Blyth passed
away at Wingham and District
Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002.
He was 59.
Mr. Knox will be fondly
remembered by the Rammeloo
family, Nina Sykes and Wilfred
Wieler.
Memorial services were held at the
McBurney Funeral Home on Sunday,
Jan. 5 at I p.m. Cremation has taken
place with placement of ashes to be
in Blyth Union Cemetery.
JANE DEVRIES
Jane Devries of Brussels, passed
away at Wingham and District
Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002.
Bom in the Netherlands on Feb. 11,
1910, Jane was in her 93rd year.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Harmon Devries. She was the
dear mother of Pete Devries and his
friend Diane of Woodstock, Ann
Smith and her husband Lome of
RR6, Markdale, Alice Cann and her
husband Ray of RR3, Exeter, John
Devries and his wife Janis of
Innerkip, and Al Devries and his wife
Lynn of Ingersoll. She was also
loved by her 13 grandchildren, 20
great-grandchildren and son-in-law
Dennis Hutchison of RR5,
Woodstock.
Mrs. Devries was predeceased by a
daughter Shirley, daughter-in-law
Rose and her brothers and sisters.
Friends were received by the
family from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Friday at the Schimanski Family
Funeral Home, Brussels. The funeral
service was conducted from Brussels
United Church on Saturday, Dec. 28
at 2 p.m. with Joan Golden
officiating. Hymns for the funeral
were How Great Thou Art and In the
Bull), There is a Flower. A solo of
Whispering Hope was performed by
Betty Graber-Watson, accompanied
by Grace Jutzi on the piano.
Carrying a floral tribute was Alex
Devries.
Pallbearers were Michael
Overholt, Keith Gilmar, Ian
Hutchison, Mike Maltby, Steven
Triebner, Rob Robinson and Rob
Winmill.
Cremation followed with spring
interment at Brussels Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
Brussels United Church or to the
charity of one’s choice.
A Majestic Women’s Institute
memorial service was held Friday
evening at the funeral home.
BILL COUTTS
William James Coutts of Walton
passed away at Seaforth Community
Hospital on Friday, Dec. 20, 2002.
Born in McKillop Twp., Bill was in
his 81 st year.
He was the beloved husband of
Marie. He was the dear father of
Karen Carter and her husband Allan
of Seaforth and Connie Cook of
Mississauga. He was the loved
grandfather of Pam Cummings and
husband Curt, Cindy and Vicki
Carter and Hollie Cook. Mr. Coutts
was the beloved brother of Isabel
Riehl of Brussels and Jean Wilbee of
Seaforth.
He was predeceased by sister
Marie Cameron.
Visitation was from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9
p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels. The funeral service was
conducted on Monday, Dec. 23 at ll
a.m. with Joan Tuchlinsky of Duff’s
United Church officiating.
Words of remembrance were given
by longtime friend Neil McGavin.
Hymns sung for the service were
Blessed Assurance and O God Our
Help in Ages Past.
Cremation to follow.
Memorial donations may be made
to Duff’s United Church, Walton or
the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A Legion service was conducted at
the funeral home Sunday at 9 p.m.
under the auspices of Brussels
Legion No. 218 RCL.
ARTHUR LAWRENCE COLSON
Arthur Lawrence Colson of
Bayfield and formerly of Clinton
passed away at Clinton Public
Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 25,
2002. He was in his 88th year.
Mr. Colson was born in Hullett
Twp. on Oct. 22, I915. He was the
son of the late Thomas and Rosey
(Bowes) Colson.
Mr. Colson was a member of the
Ontario Street United Church,
Clinton.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Isabel (Jamieson) Colson who
predeceased him in 1986 and long-;
time companion of Pearl Hutchings
of Bayfield. He was the dear father of
Ken and Ellen Colson of RR3,
Clinton and Nancy and Bill Klomps
of Bayfield. He was the loving
grandfather of Mark and Cheryl
Colson, Jeff Klomps and his fiancee
Erin Murray, Gerry and David
Klomps.
He was predeceased by one sister
Marjorie Sturdy.
At Arthur’s request cremation has
taken place. A memorial service was
held at the Beattie-Falconer Funeral
Homes Ltd., 153 High St., Clinton on
Monday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m.
Visitation commenced one hour prior
to the memorial service.
Spring interment of cremated
remains will be in Clinton Cemetery.
Donations to Ontario Street United
Church Memorial Fund, Clinton
Public Hospital Foundation or to the
Heart and Stroke Foundation would
be appreciated as expressions of
sympathy.
KAREN KIRSTINE BJERG
Karen K. Bjerg of Blyth, passed
away suddenly at the London
University Hospital Sunday, Jan. 5 in
her 69th year surrounded by her
family.
She was predeceased by husband
Benny in 1996; parents, Rosa and
Pedar Pedersen; sister Henny and
grandson,Jacob.
She is survived by her three
children John (Rhonda), Jette (Jim),
Janet (Don), eight grandchildren,
nine great-grandchildren, brother
Egon of Denmark, special friend,
Marie and many nephews and nieces;
A memorial service will be held on
Thursday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. at the
Church of God, Blyth. Pastor Les
Cook is officiating. In celebration of
Karen’s life, the family invites
friends for a time of refreshments at
the Blyth Legion.
Donations to London University
Hospital or Clinton Public Hospital
would be greatly appreciated.
Funeral arrangements were
entrusted to Beattie-Falconer Funeral
Homes, Clinton.
STELLA WINNIFRED
JOHNSTON
Stella Winnifred (Brown) Johnston
of Blyth passed away at Huron view
Home for the Aged, Clinton on
Monday, Dec. 23, 2002. She was in
her 84th year.
Mrs. Johnston was born in Clinton
on July 16, 1919 and was the
daughter of the late Thomas and
Mildred (Hare) Brown.
She was the beloved wife of the
late Stewart Johnston who
predeceased her in 1989. She was the
dear mother of Joanne and Murray
Souch of Blyth, Joyce and Phil
Breckles of Goderich. Gail Daer and
Bob Gorman of RR5, Strathroy,
Robert and Marie Johnston of
Clinton, Jim Johnston and Cheryl
McClure of Blyth, Brian Johnston
and Annette Carter of Wingham,
Lynda and Mark Kennedy of
Clinton, Paul Johnston of Strathroy
and Rhonda and David Bartliff of
Clinton. She was the dear mother-in-
law of Shirley Johnston of Petrolia
and Linda Johnston of Strathroy.
Mrs. Johnston was also loved and
will be sadly missed by 24
grandchildren and 16 great
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one son
Wayne Johnston in 1993 and by two
sisters Delores Lee and Beatrice
Wilson.
Friends were received at the Blyth
Visitation Centre of the Beatlie-
Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., 407
Queen St., Blyth on Thursday
(Boxing Day) from 6 - 9 p.m. where
the funeral service was held on
Friday, Dec. 27 at 2 p.m.
Interment will be in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Heart
and Stroke Foundation or to the
Canadian Diabetes Association
would be appreciated as expressions
of sympathy.
A memorial service was held by
the Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian
Legion Blyth Branch No. 420 on
Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral
home
