Our sympathy is also extended to the families of Dorothy Daer who passed away on Sunday. Jan. 5. The last two winners of the 125th draw were Robert McCool of Londesboro. Dec. 20 and Fred Hakkers of Blyth on Dec. 27. The early bird winner of the You Pick the Pick-Up draw on Dec. 21 for the Curtis Joseph Autographed Jersey was Grant Sparling and the big winner of the draw on Dec. 25 for the truck or $35,000 was Brian Wightman of Auburn. Don't forget euchre at the Legion on Monday night. Jan. 13. Joye and Murray Kane of Fullarton hosted a holiday get- together for the family on Jan. 4. Those attending were Al and Cindy Kane and family of Fullarton Twp.. Kim and Mark Hornyak of Strathroy, Paul and Sue Craig and family of Waterloo. Doug and Joyce Craig and family of Atwood, Deb and Fred Hakkers and family, Bodie and Ollie Craig and Don and Marilyn Craig all of Blyth. During the afternoon we talked to Helen Merheb in Lebanon by way of the internet. Joye had a birthday cake to help Deb celebrate her 40th birth­ day. Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, Jan. 5 were Irma Mason and Joann MacDonald. Ushering was Cliff Snell. Rev. Eugen Bannerman welcomed everyone to church and thanked them for helping him celebrate his first year at Blyth United. The children’s hymn Infant Holy, Infant Lowly, was sung and the children went to the front of the church for their story of the Three Wise Men. Rev. Bannerman gave each of the children a gold chocolate coin and also a stick of incense which he lit and then asked them to blow it out so they could smell the incense. The lectionary reading was Isaiah 60. 1-6 followed by the 147th Psalm read responsively. The reading of the Epistle was Ephesians 3: 1-12. STICK TO YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION AND... God sending the shepherds a message by (he way of angels, the Wisemen being guided by the star, the beginning of Jesus's ministry with the John the Baptist baptizing Jesus and celebrating Jesus’s first miracle of changing the water into wine at the wedding. In the early church Christmas was celebrated on Jan. 6. It wasn't until the the 4th century Roman Empire changed it to Dec. 25, Rev Bannerman said.
