Dear friends, I am writing to tell

councillors received very good news
at the Dec. 3 session when they
heard about the reassessment of
Community Reinvestment Fund
allocations.
Having received just $639,000 in
both 2001 and 2002, they were
pleased to learn that this figure will
be upped to $985,000 in 2003. They
will also receive an additional
$692,000 prior to the end of the year
as the previous two year's sums
have been recalculated.
The $692,000 will be placed in a
reserve fund which has been
depleted in recent years. Council
expects the increased funding to
impact the tax dollars which will be

Council will consider changing
the stop sign from CP Line to
McGaw Road after hearing concerns
from local residents, a milk truck
driver and school bus drivers. The
incline on CP line is very steep at the
intersections and drivers find it hard
to accelerate from a stop in icy road
conditions.
The process of adopting a bylaw
to change the signs will be
undertaken.
The class environmental
assessment for the Safford area has
been completed.
The minutes of the November
meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer's report was read.
Mrs. Armstrong thanked Jean
Bewley, Eluned McNair and Mary
Huether for delivering the
poinsettias.
After many years as treasurer

afternoon Bernice Gross arrived
with a gift of a lovely white
poinsettia from Knox United
Church. It has a place of honour at
the dining room table.
Other Knox members are also
enjoying their Christmas flower.
On Thursday, Dec. 19 the
Walkerbum Club went to Restview
Nursing Home, Clinton and had
carol singing with the folks. Ila
Cunningham played the piano and
Deanna Snell led the singing.
The club also was informed that
the child's crib quilt Puppy Love that
the members had made sold for $200
at the quilt sale. It's nice to know
that someone will enjoy it.
A quote from MDS/PSC
