Agriculture Brussels Livestock report 19 bulls on offer, avg. $55 to $85, top $90 Total receipts for Brussels Livestock for the week ending Dec. 20 were 2,297 head of cattle, 1,272 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold at prices $2 higher. The cows also sold on a market $1 to $2 higher. On Thursday the veal sold at prices $2 to $3 lower. The lambs sold under pressure. On Friday all classes and weights of stockers sold on a good strong steady market. There were 543 steers on offer selling from $104 to $110 with sales to $122. Jonathon Murray, Ripley, consigned one gold steer weighing 1,140 lbs. which sold to Highland Packers for $122. Three limousin steers consigned. by Merkley Farms, Wroxeter, averaged 1,288 lbs. selling for an average of $111.97 with their top steer weighing 1,285 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $119.50. M. C. Oldfield, Brussels, consigned thirty-seven black steers averaging 1,323 lbs. which sold for an average of $111.66 with top steer weighing 1,210 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $117.50. Dennis Schroeder, Dashwood, consigned five red steers averaging 1,302 lbs. selling for an average of $111.05 with sales up to $116.75. One red steer consigned by Ivan B. Weber, Paisley, weighed 1,375 lbs. which was purchased by Norwich Packers for $117. His overall offering of seven steers averaged 1,447 lbs. selling for an average of $110.98. Roy Schmidt, Woodstock, consigned eleven limousin steers averaging 1,508 lbs. selling for an average of $110.42 with sales up to $116.50. Twelve steers consigned by Amsey and Erla Martin, Mount Forest, averaged 1,343 lbs. selling for an average of $108.91 with their top two limousin steers averaging 1,300 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $115. John A. Elliott, Ripley, consigned one black steer weighing 1,550 lbs. which sold for $113.50. His overall consignment of eleven steers averaged 1,610 lbs. selling for an average of $107.46. His overall offering of seventeen heifers averaged 1,248 lbs. for an average of $109.39. Tom Hern, Woodham, consigned one grey heifer weighing 1,258 lbs. selling to Moyer Packing Co. for $112.50. Fifteen heifers consigned by Hugh Love, Atwood, averaged 1,323 lbs. selling for an average of $111.90 with his top limousin heifer weighing 1,260 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $115.50. His total consignment of four heifers averaged 1,328 lbs. selling for an average of $110.52. One blue heifer consigned by Larry Reinhart Sr., Mildmay, weighed 1,215 lbs. selling to Ryding Regency for $110.50. He also consigned one gold heifer weighing 1,370 lbs. which sold for $109. Brad Hem, Woodham, consigned six heifers averaging 1,460 lbs. selling for an average of $108.59 with his top blonde heifer weighing 1,460 lbs. selling to Aylmer Meat Packers for $112.50. Eleven heifers consigned by Frank Roney, Staffa, averaged 1,305 lbs. selling for an include sporting events, proviricial conferences and community betterment and agriculture awareness projects. Cranbrook Farms, Brussels, consigned one holstein cow weighing 1,300 lbs. which sold to Moyer Packing Co. for $84. Their overall offering of three holstein cows averaged 1,138 lbs. selling for an average of $69.20. One charolais cow consigned by Elias M. Martin, Wroxeter, weighed 1,215 lbs. which sold for $76.50. Ron Douglas, Clifford, consigned one charolais cow weighing 1,390 lbs. which sold for $74.50. There were 19 bulls on offer selling from $55 to $85 with sales to $90.50. One white/bull bull consigned by Bill Devos Jr., Bluevale, weighed 2,160 lbs. sold to Dominion Meats for $90.50. John P. Schiestel, Teeswater, consigned one grey bull weighing 1,775 lbs. which sold for $86.50. There were 171 head of veal on offer. Beef sold $100 to $130; Holstein, $95 to $105; Plain Holstein, $65 to $80. Don Eadie, Wingham, consigned one limousin veal heifer weighed 685 lbs. which sold for $130 and one limousin veal heifer weighing 685 lbs. selling for $123. One gold veal steer consigned by Mark and Paul Pennington, weighed 695 lbs. selling to Holly Park Meat Packers for $127. Their overall offering of seven veal calves averaged 685 lbs. for an -average price of $109.90.
