THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2002. Obituaries DOREEN RUTLEDGE Doreen (McLellan) Rutledge of Brussels passed away at Seaforth Community Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002. Born in Hibbert Twp. on July 31, 1925, Doreen was in her 78th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Thomas (Joe) Rutledge. She was the dear daughter of Grace Klein of Mitchell. She was the dear mother of John Rutledge of Goderich and Gerald Rutledge of Elora. Mrs. Rutledge was the dear grandmother of Chad of Kitchener and Krista of Stratford. She was the loved sister of Barb Rivers of Seaforth, Laura Henderson of London, Ross McLellan of Sarnia and Ada Mae Karpie of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was also loved by her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Rutledge was predeceased by her father Andrew McLellan. Friends were received by the fam- ily from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels, where the funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m..with Rev. Cathrine Campbell of Melville Presbyterian Church officiating. In tribute, the words to the song In My life were read by Doreen's niece Lana Mink and words of remem- brance of Doreen were given by her son John. Pallbearers were Lorne Draper, Lloyd Glanville, Frank Workman, Ross Bennett, Bill Kellington and Klendon Coombs. Spring interment will be in Brussels Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Brussels Legion No. 218 RCL. A Legion service was conducted at the funeral home Tuesday at 9 p.m, under the auspices of Brussels Legion No. 218 RCL. BILL KING William Herbert King of Brussels, passed away at his residence on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002. Born in Morris Twp. on May 16, 1920, Bill was in his 83rd year. He was the beloved `tusband of the late Joanne King. He was the dear father of Bill King and his wife Tammy of Brussels and Karla Button and her husband Darryl of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mr. King was the brother of Marie Douglas of Atwood and Janet Day and her hus- band John of Wingham and brother- in-law of Jacqueline Gowdy and her husband Raymond •of Gorrie and Don Gilmar and his wife Lois of Ancaster. He was also loved by his six grandchildren, Justine, William and Kassandra King of Brussels, Laura Payne of Orillia and Lukas and Brooklyn Button of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mr. King was predeceased by two children Christopher and Lloyann. He was also loved by his daughter- in-law Shelley Payne and her hus- band Garry of Orillia. Friends will be received by the family from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels. The funeral service will be conducted from Melville Presbyterian Church, Brussels on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cathrine Campbell officiating. Spring burial will be at Brussels Cemetery. A Masonic memorial service under the auspices of St. John's Lodge No. 284 A.F. &- A.M. will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. LOTTIE MARGARET SCOTT Mrs. Lottie Scott of RR1, Belgrave passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Friday, Dec. l3, 2002. She was 71. The former Lottie Saunders was the beloved wife of the late Ken Scott who predeceased her in 1979. She was the dear mother of Beth and Jerry deBruyn of Clifford, Ila and Bill Gadke of RR1, Clifford, John and Anne Scott of Lucknow, Karen Scott at home, Pat and Gord Jenkins of Blyth, Jim Scott of RR I, Belgrave, Bill and Jennifer Scott of Ilderton, Audrey and Lyle Bridge of Gorrie, Kevin Scott at home and Allan and Marilyn Scott of Lucknow. She was the sister of Gordon and Nora Saunders and Lloyd and June Saunders. Mrs. Scott is also survived'by 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her par- ents George and Ruby (Ritchie) Saunders, sisters Ila Mae Saunders, Violet Thompson and Freda Broome and by her infant great-grandson Mason McDougall. Visitation was at IvIc,Burney Funeral Home, Wingham on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funer- al service was held at the funeral home on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Rev, Cathrine Campbell officiated. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave. Memorial donations to Knox Presbyterian Church, Blyth Legion or Belgrave Arena Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sym- pathy. MARGARET MACDONALD Mrs. Margaret MacDonald, wife of Kenneth MacDonald of Atwood passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 in her 72nd year. She is survived by her family, Richard, Chris, and Jane, and their families, sister-in-law Mary, broth- er-in-law Graeme and wife Faye. She was predeceased by her par- ents, brothers, and a sister in England. Visitation was held at Peebles Funeral Home, Atwood on Sunday. The funeral service was held on Monday at 2 p.m. Officiating was Rev. John Hogerwaard. MYRTLE HEIBEIN Mrs. Myrtle Heibein, wife of the late Bert Heibein of Caressant Care, Listowel, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2002 in her 98th year. She is survived by three daugh- ters, Muriel and husband Lawson Ward of Listowel, Nellie and hus- band Dave Hammel of RR42, London, Jean and husband Bob Coulter of Listowel, a son Clayton and wife Donelda of Thamesford, daughter-in-law Pearl and Harold Bromley of Seaforth, 26 grandchil- dren, 71 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her par- ents, five sisters and two brothers, a son Bruce, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren. - Visitation was held at Peebles Funeral Home, Atwood, Sunday. Lodge enjoys festive dinner A delicious turkey dinner was enjoyed by 37 on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Merry Piper Restaurant. The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, Brussels followed dinner. District Deputy President Sister Helen Coates of Huron Perth District #23 made her official visit accompanied by a Brother and four Sisters from Exeter. Sister Linda Jacklin, Bayfield was also present. Vice Grand Sister Elva Brown delivered Christmas gifts to Shirley Turnbull and Sisters Retta Hoover, Mary Lowe and Leona Connelly. Christmas•cards were sent to Sisters Norma McNair and Linda Jacklin. Plans were finalized for the visit of Vice President of Rebekah Assembly of Ontario Sister June Ritchie on Tuesday, Jan. 14. A ban- quet and meeting will be held at Brussels United Church with mem- bers from Listowel and Clinton also attending. Sister Gertie Kellington and Brother John Brown celebrated their birthdays. Following the meeting a Christmas program was enjoyed with secret sisters revealed. Under- the-tree gifts were exchanged by all brothers and sisters.
