It was an exciting two-game
match-up between the Blyth PeeWee
Black broomball squad and

Thursday and Saturday, with each
team taking a win.
On Dec. 12, Blyth took to the ice
in Seaforth, getting on the board
first, beating the Seaforth netminder
early in the contest.
There was excellent play by both
teams, taking the action from end-to
end.
The home squad evened the tally
with less than one minute remaining
in the first half.
Great stops by both goalies kept
the spectators on the edge of their
seats. Blyth went ahead midway
through the second half when the

Dalton Richmond earned a shut-
out in net, helping his team to the
1.0-0 win.
Despite this the Brussels Tykes
played a fun and exciting game
showing great improvement in their
skills.
Andrew Patton saw plenty of
rubber and saved many goals as
Brusse4s was forced to play a
defensive game. Brock McLean,
Mitchell Kraemer and Brody TenPas
skated hard with great shots on net,
unfortunately stopped by the Blyth
goalie.
Good digging and defence was
shown by Wyatt Ducharme, Hayden
TenPas, Mitchell Kellington and
Shawn Dale as Blyth put the
pressure on.
It has been a busy week with
league play and a tournament for the
Brussels Bantams.
On Dec. 1 I the squad hosted
Howick -and edged their visitors 4-2.
Brad McKague got the home team
on the board in the first with helpers
from Nathan Prior and Matt
McClinchey.
The squad took a two-goal lead in
the second when Chris Jutzi popped
one in, assisted by Greg Bowers and
Jordon Campbell. Howick cancelled
it with just over five minutes left, but
Steven Ropp got it back with 50
seconds on the clock. Adam
McClure and Mitch Blake assisted.
Not to be outdone, Howick popped
one between the pipes seconds
before the buzzer sounded.
Holding the visitors down,
Brussels sealed the win when
McClinchey drove one between the
pipes.
On Dec. 13 the squad competed in
the Elma Logan tournament and lost
a close match in the first game
against Zurich. After a scoreless
period Zurich came on in the second
to score two, while shutting Brussels
down.
McClinchey, assisted by Cory
Chapman and Matt White found the
net in the third but that was all the
team could do, settling for a 2-1 loss.
In the second game they played
the hosting Elma Logan team and
came out winners, whitewashing
their opponents 3-0.
