PICK-UP NOTICE
BLYTH WARD
Blue box pick-up for the
Ward of Blyth will be on
Saturday, December 28,
2002. There will be no blue
box pick-up on Christmas
Day or New Year's Day.
W1NGHAM WARD
There will be regular blue
box pick-up for those
residents usually collected
on Tuesdays on December
24 and December 31, 2002.
For those residents normally
collected on Wednesdays,
pick-up will be on Saturday,
December 28, 2002 and
Saturday. January 4, 2003.
The regular schedule will
resume in the new year.
There will be no change to
the garbage pick-up
schedule.

Our sympathy is extended to the
family of Lottie Scott on her death
last week.
We wish Edelgard Hoba a speedy
recovery after having surgery and
also to Don Scrimgeour who has
returned home.
The winner of the 125th calendar
draw was Thelma Johnston of Blyth.
Monday night, Dec. 9 euchre had
six tables playing. Winners were:
high lady, Bernice McClinchey with
a score of 71; second high lady,
Thelma Johnston with 69; high man,
Edith Glousher with 74; second high
man, Lloyd Appleby with 71; low
lady, Kay Hesselwood with 48; low
man, Bill Nethery with 28; most lone
hands, Carol Daer with four and
Gord Jenkins with two.
Door prizes went to Joann
MacDonald, Kay Hesselwood, Ruth
Shiell, Thelma Johnston, Kathy
Bromley and Jean Nethery. Share-
the-wealth draw winners were Edith
Glousher and Ron Ritchie. The next
euchre is Jan. 13.
Forty-seven Edgar relatives
gathered together on Saturday, Dec.
14 at the Belgrave Institute Hall for
their annual Christmas party hosted
by Don Edgar and Joanne Courtes
and family. After being served a
turkey dinner by the Institute ladies
everyone enjoyed playing euchre.
Prizes were won by Helen
Stonehouse, Donna Bieman, Greg
and Scott Edgar. Those attending
were from Petrolia, Tavistock,
Goderich, Aylmer, Atwood, Barrie,
London, Wingham, Lucknow,
Belgrave and Blyth.
My family and I would like to
wish all our readers both in Blyth
and those who are away from Blyth
a very Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Dec. 15 were Brenda and
Mac BrOoks. Ushering were . Les,
Tim and Mark Caldwell. Guest
musician was Lynda Lentz-
MacGregor. Lighting the third
candle of Advent were Steve,
Frances, Amanda, Brandilyn and
Wyatt Bearss. The third candle of
Advent is the candle of joy. It was lit
facing west.
The choir's anthem was People
Look East. The children's hymn was
0 Little Town of Bethlehem.
The children of the Sunday school
presented a pageant of the Christmas
story directed by Deb Hakkers.
Psalm 126 was read responsively.
The gospel reading was from
Matthew 2: 1-12.
Rev. Eugen Bannerman's
message to the adults was entitled
Come with Me to Bethlehem. He
took the congregation to Bethlehem
with three different people. The first
trip was the story in Bible times
when Jesus was born in a stable. It
was a holiday and everyone went to
be counted and assessed their taxes.
The second was with Philip
Brooks in 1865. While there, Brooks
wrote a poem, 0 Little Town of
Bethlehem and asked a composer to
put it to music. The third trip was
with Rev. Bannerman in 1963 when
he journeyed to Bethlehem.
