It was a jolly group on the Huron Bay Co-operative float during the Blyth Christmas parade on
Friday night. Happy faces, from left, were Bill and Maxine Seers and Justin Chamney. (Vicky

Carloads
travel
for Bible
study
Carloads of folks went to
Goderich Place for a Bible Study
meeting and to see dear friends
living there.
Leader Marie Bergsma welcomed
everyone, gave a short prayer then
suggested a hymn-sing. Christmas
Carol sheets were handed to
everyone and Lois Haines played.
Everyone was in a singing mood and
carols are well-known and loved
by all, so it was a most enjoyable
time.
Following this, appropriate
readings were given by Maureen
Bean and Kay Lapp.
Goderich Place ladies then came
around with goodies for everyone to
enjoy and a social time was had
talking to old friends and making
new ones.
Maxine and Bill Seers welcomed
the Auburn Seniors to their home on
Wednesday, Dec. 4. Maxine treated
all to one of her dinners, an
assortment of salads, roast beef with
horse radish and all the trimmings.
To finish off there was an
assortment of her delicious pies. It
was nice to have their two daughters
helping serve the tables.
Practically all the members were
present and after the meal they went
to the living room to hear the guest
speaker OPP Sr. Const. Don
Shropshall speak about driving.
First of all it is important to have
vehicles in top-top shape before
taking them onto the roads. All
windows should be clean and the
windshield wipers in perfect
operation. Gas tanks should always
be in good shape and filled.
People should always wear their
seatbelts — they can be lifesavers.
Special permission can be given if
for some reason one is unable to
wear seatbelts but if possible wear
them even for short trips, he said.
Accidents can happen anytime and
anywhere.
Discussion arose regarding the
use of cellular phones while driving.
There is to be a change in laws, as
this is not safe and too many people
seem to be doing it.
Officer Shropshall answered
questions.
A short business program
followed. It was decided to continue
during the winter months if weather
co-operates. Members decided they
would probably meet at the Auburn
library.
The Seniors' prayer was said in
unison.
During the dinner two prizes were
given. Lois Haines sat at the
specially marked place and Kay
Lapp was the birthday winner.
Everyone had a special crocheted
placemat made by Ethel Ball.
There's a better way to
move that old furniture...
