A bountiful potluck meal was
enjoyed by the women of
Londesboro United Church and
several guests on Monday, Dec. 2.
Thanks to the generosity of the
attendees a box of donated items
will be given to the women's shelter
in Clinton along with tied
comforters,
Music of the season was a large
part of the evening's program.
Following the mealtime fellowship,
Gail Lear accompanied a carol sing.
Christmas piano numbers by
several young folk were introduced
by Barb Bosman. Tyler Mitchell
played Jingle Bells and his sister
Jacqui, played I Say a Little Prayer:
Joy to the World and Up on the
Housetop were the selections played
by Jennifer Snell and her sister.
Rachel. offered Winter Wind. Emily
Allen choSe to entertain with Up On
The Housetop and Deck the Halls.
The young Snell sisters also played
a spritely duet.
Two young soloists from Clinton
displayed their vocal talents.
Scarlett Raczycki sang the familiar
Do You Hear What I Hear? and
Meaghan Carter offered the
humorous Too Fat for the Chimney.
Having these children and their
excitement about the season in our
midst for this Christmas gathering
was a reminder that Christmas is all
about the birth of a child.
Offering piano duets of seasonal
music were Susan Hay and Jennifer
Szusz as well.
A thought-provoking skit titled, A
Matter of Angels was performed by
five 'angelic' ladies. to the skit the
angels were having difficulty
delivering their message about love
to folk who were finding Christmas
too stressful.
A time of devotion was offered by
co-presidents Lynda Horbanuik and
Kittie MacGregor. The meditation
spoke of the differing Christmas
customs practised throughout the
ages since Christ's birth. In the
commercialism of today, Christian
families need reminding that the
central Christmas figures were a
simple, loving family.
Dave Williams was in the pulpit at
Londesboro United Church on
Sunday. Dec. 8 for the annual white
gift service.
His message was titled Finding
Inner Peace. Supporting scripture
passages were Psalm 85, Isaiah 4(I:
l-11 and Mark 1: 1-8.
