Alzheimer,S'ocietv FROM BELGRAVE We have audited the consolidated statement of financial position of the Corporation of the County of Huron as at December 31, 2001 and the consolidated statements of financial activities and cash flows for the year then ended. These statements are the responsibility of the County's management. Our responsibility is to express an opinion on these financial statements based on our audit. We conducted our audit in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards. Those standards require that we plan and perform an audit to obtain reasonable assurance whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement. An audit includes examining, on a test basis evidence supporting the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements. An audit also includes assessing the accounting principles used and significant estimates made by management, as well as evaluating overall financial statement presentation. In our opinion, these consolidated financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Corporation of the County of Huron as at December 31, 2001. the results of its financial activities and cash flows for the year then ended in accordance with accounting principles for municipal govemmeMs established by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. OBJECTIVE Water is safe and meets local needs. NoteS The number of days represents the total number of boil water Orders issued throughout the county on municipally treated water. WINTER EVENT RESPONSES Ok 100% EXPLANATION The percentage of winter control activities in response to a weather condition (snow fall, sleet, freezing rain, etc.) that met or exceeded municipal standards. OBJECTIVE To provide an appropriate winter storm event response to ensure that any inconvenience and disruption in transportation caused by the storm is minimized. OPERATING COSTS - Nluniciā€¢al Administration Ok 6.08% EXPLANATION The cost of local government central administration as a percentage of the total municipal operating cost. OBJECTIVE Efficient administration supporting local services Notes The County provicfes centralized corporate support for serviceS such as payroll, financial management, information technology, human resources. etc. PAGE 10. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2002. M. Coultes hosts UCW The Campbell Family Christmas was held on Sunday, Dec. 1 at the Women's Institute Hall. After a noon dinner there were contests and a quiz to name maternal and paternal ancestors. A newspaper story and photo reminded all that their grandparents Ira and Gertrude Campbell were married on that day Dec. 1, 105 years ago and were able to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary in 1972. Forty-three family members from Lucknow, Goderich, Kincardine and Seaforth joined the Belgrave folks to wish John Campbell a Happy Birthday. Over 80 members and friends of the Belgrave Community Seniors Club enjoyed a Christmas party on Friday, Dec. 6 in the Belgrave arena. A delicious turkey dinner was served by Marilyn Frieburger and her family. President Lorne Campbell welcomed everyone and Rev. John Roberts said grace. Following the dinner, Mary Hunter thanked the Frieburger family. Louise Bosman introduced the entertainment for the afternoon. Irene Lamont led a sing- song with Donna Shaw at the piano. Rev. Roberts sang 0 Holy Night, accompanied by Kay Roberts. Louise entertained with several stories and Alice Nicholson gave several readings. Bill and Muriel Coultes sang two Christmas pieces, accompanied by their daughter Joanne Robinson. During the afternoon many draws were made for gifts. Ross Anderson, playing the mouth organ, and Lorne Campbell at the piano played several Christmas carols. The afternoon closed with a game of Christmas bingo, led by Jim Coultes. Lorne thanked everyone for coming and wished all a Merry Christmas. The December meeting of the Evening Unit to Knox United Church, Belgrave was held Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the home of Muriel Coultes with a good attendance including several visitors. Leader Lorna Cook welcomed everyone and thanked Muriel for hosting the meeting. She read a poem Let Us Live Christmas All year. The January meeting will be held at Mabel Wheeler's home. Feb. 4 The Belgrave WMS held their meeting at the manse on monday, Dec. 2. Freda Scott opened with a Call to Worship and The Purpose was repeated. The scripture from Luke 2 was read by Ivy Cloakey. 0 Little Town of Bethlehem was recited. Mrs. Scott read a story called Bethlehem Bound which was followed by prayer. Roll call was verses from a poem in The Glad Tidings. will be at the manse. The Christmas Story was recalled in narration by several members. Christmas hymns were sung throughout the presentation while candles were lit. Mrs. Cook read a story of Special Productions that helped recall other Christmases. Often mishaps in performances make them special. Mrs. Wheeler conducted a con- test. The secretary and treasurer reports were given and the collection received. Twenty-nine sick and shut-in visits were recorded. At the annual meeting next month members are asked to bring 12 dishcloths. Other business was discussed. Alice Nicholson read two stories, Eaton's Catalogue and Christmas on the Farm. Rev. Cathrine Campbell closed with prayer.
